- Personal Message
- I am an experienced Chemistry teacher and marker for A-level Chemistry.
Students often find parts of the subject difficult and I help to sort out individual problems and to improve their confidence. - Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I teach AS, A2 and IB Chemistry and am an examination marker.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- BSc(Hons) Biochemistry;
PGCE. - What kind of experience do you have?
- I am an experienced Chemistry teacher and an A-level Chemistry exam marker. I am retired and most of my teaching was in Essex where I was Head of Department in two leading schools.
I was a very successful private tutor in Essex before I retired and moved to Suffolk. I am familiar with all A-level syllabuses and have taught them all. Recent tutoring has included the OCR, AQA, EDEXCEL and IB syllabuses. - How much do you charge?
- I charge £30 per hour.
- Where do you teach?
- I prefer to teach at home. I would be prepared to travel up to 10 miles from my home near Sudbury but would charge travelling expenses.
- When are you available?
- I am available most days, some evenings and some weekends including the school holidays.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I teach ages 16 - 18: AS, A2 and IB Chemistry.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- I have a CRB certificate but since retiring it has not been kept up to date.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
- The majority of my students hate Chemistry when they first come to see me. I am delighted that, once their problems with the subject have been sorted, many have then chosen to study the subject at university. I've taught many students over the years and I've always enjoyed a good relationship with them.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- Students come to me because they are finding parts of the subject difficult. It is my aim to sort out individual problems and to give the student confidence in their ability. As an experienced exam marker I can teach the student the techniques required to answer A-level papers. Part of the exam preparation involves answering as many past papers as possible.
