- I am an English language specialist with 8 years teaching experience in a range of settings, including GCSE, IELTS and EFL. I can help you build up your knowledge and confidence in these areas.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I teach IELTS, general EFL and GCSE, A Level and university level English Literature. I also specialise in CV-writing, interview coaching and confidence building and can help improve your general writing skills.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I have a BA in English Literature from the University of Sussex and a Masters from Trinity College Dublin. I have a Cambridge ESOL CELTA (International House College, London), am experienced in teaching IELTS and have a PGCE in teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from the Institute of Education, University of London.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I have 8 years experience teaching EFL and English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) to adults and teenagers, including 3 years at City and Islington College, rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted. During this time I prepared students for various Cambridge exams. I have also tutored students on a one-to-one basis in IELTS and FCE. Much of my teaching has been work and job-focussed so I have particular expertise in this area. I have tutored students in GCSE and A Level English and also worked as an assistant English teacher for GCSE and A Level in a secondary school for 1 year, where I gained excellent knowledge of the curriculum. I also have a very good knowledge of academic English and essay-writing.
- How much do you charge?
- I charge £25 an hour. I can give a one-off reduced price introductory/ consultation lesson for £15. Group discounts also available.
- Where do you teach?
- You can come to my home or I can travel to your home. I live in central London but can travel to north, south, east and west London.
- When are you available?
- I am available in the evenings on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and on Saturday mornings and afternoons. I am also available during school/ college/ university holidays.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I teach ages upwards from 14. I teach EFL from beginners up to advanced and teach English from GCSE up to degree level.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- IELTS, FCE, GCSE, A-Level, CV-writing, interview coaching
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- I have a current CRB check.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
- If you want to be tutored online, I can arrange tutoring sessions via Skype and we can set up an email correspondence for any written work.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
- I am a Member of the Institute for Learning
- Where and with whom did you train?
- I trained at the Insitute of Education in London and at Oxford House College in London.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- It's really important to me that I meet my students' needs, so when we first meet we will spend some time discussing your goals and the areas you want to work on. We can then work out a plan of study, which I will make sure works for you. I'm passionate about teaching English and will try to make your course of study as engaging, fun and stimulating as possible. I look forward to hearing from you!
