Personal Message
I am a tutor specialising in the unique guitar style of Django Reinhardt. I am very passionate about my subject and am proud that my students share that enthusiasm.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
Gypsy Jazz, Folk (DADGAD), and related styles.
Tell me about your qualifications.
B(Sc) Degree in Musical Instruments (First)
What kind of experience do you have?
I have been a tutor in London since moving here 5 years ago, and have played in various bands for almost 10 years. Unlike most guitarists, my main style has always been Gyspy Jazz so I have a complete understanding of the unique techniques required of this style. I have performed internationally in France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy. I am also a full-time luthier (guitar maker) specialising in Selmer-Maccaferri guitars so I have a unique perspective on mastering these instruments.
How much do you charge?
£20 per hour. I also offer an 'Introductory Course' which consists of eight one-hour lessons covering all the fundamental aspects of the style at the discounted rate of £150.

I offer a full professional guitar set-up for all of my students at a discounted rate. Please contact for more details.
Where do you teach?
I teach in the unique atmosphere of my guitar workshop in Deptford, and I have two high-quality guitars for my students to learn on. Unfortunately I am unable to teach far outside of my area because of the nature of my work, but would be willing to travel to New Cross or Greenwich for an additional charge.
When are you available?
I am very flexible regarding availability during the week, and am able to teach daytime or evening, as well as bank holidays.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
All ages and abilities.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Currently pending.
Tell me about some of your current students.
Many of my students already have a background as guitar players but in other styles such as blues or fingerstyle, and it is breaking habits formed by playing these styles that can be most difficult for my students. However, one of my students has developed particularly good technique despite having never used a plectrum before, and within a couple of months started to improvise on standards such as Minor Swing, Dark Eyes and All Of Me. He has also started writing songs inspired by some of the new chords I have shown him and is already rehearsing with a new band with a view to performing in the near future.
