- Freelance Musician, Composer and Teacher.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- Music, Bass guitar, Jazz studies/composition.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I have just recently finished with a first class honours degree in Music at Bath Spa University and have A levels in Music (A), English Literature (B), Music Technology (B), Business Studies (D), as well as 11 GCSE'S all A*-C grades.
I also have a Merit in Grade 5 in Music theory, received an trainee level teaching certificate from a schools teaching placement on the S.A. scheme. - What kind of experience do you have?
- Plentiful experience in performing and composing a range of musical styles both as a solo artist and valuable member of a group, band, or jazz orchestra. In terms of teaching I have now had over 2 years experience teaching peripatetically on my first study instrument, The Electric Bass, as well as the occasional one to one tuition on music essays and coursework. I have also taken part in several school teaching placements where I have helped and supported students through work set by the classroom teacher(s).
- How much do you charge?
- My standard rate is £25 per hour or £15 per half an hour, but will be willing to reduce this cost for special circumstances (such as travel, financial issues etc). The first consultation lesson is half price, therefore it would be £12.50 for an hour session or 7.50 for a 30 minute session. Hourly rates may increase if I am required to travel to a student's location in order to cover travel costs, though my home music room should provide all the necessary equipment that a student would need for any given lesson.
- Where do you teach?
- Predominantly I teach in a music room at my house in Downend, Bristol/ South Gloucestershire. However, depending on particular circumstances or how close a pupil is to my location I would be willing to travel to a student's house or a separate preferred location such as a university practice room or any other practice room facility. The same is said for my tuition of jazz theory and composition, as well as the other subjects that are listed on my profile.
- When are you available?
- I am currently available most daytimes, with the exception of a Thursday afternoon (though that can be re-arranged if needs be. I am also occasionally free on a Monday and Wednesday evening, but at the moment these times can vary from week to week with regular band rehearsals and gigging commitments.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I am happy to teach all ages and levels of ability
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Yes
- Where and with whom did you train?
- I received formal training from lecturers of Bath Spa University as well as private tuition on my instrument from Dr Andy Keep from the Creative Music Technology Course based at Bath Spa University.
