Interview
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach jazz trombone as well as classical trombone. I also teach violin and singing, mainly jazz. I offer theory lessons between the grades of 1 and 5.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I achieved 5 A-C's at GCSE level and 3 A-C's in A level in music, art and photography.
Received a 2:1 in Jazz trombone at Trinity College of music (Completed June 2011)
What kind of experience do you have?
I play in my own trio, which is a line up of bass, piano, voice and trombone, I play in many big bands in around the London area and have toured with Michael Bolton as his backing vocalist and horn player.
How much do you charge?
I charge £25.00 for trombone lessons, jazz, £20.00 an hour for jazz vocal lessons and £20.00 an hour for violin lessons.
Where do you teach?
I am about to start vocal teaching at James Wolfe Primary school, Greenwich - key-stage 3 and 4.
I am perfectly happy to teach at home or travel to the pupils house, and the nearby towns for me would be Greenwich, Lewisham, Blackheath, Central London, pref an hour travel between Charlton and central London. I would also be happy to teach a pupil in Trinity College.
When are you available?
Availability:
Saturday mornings
most days of the week (depending on various gigs and availability of pupil)
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I would like to teach between the ages of 10 and 40+
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
Yes, i have 1 for the Greenwich area
Where and with whom did you train?
I studied at Trinity College of Music on the jazz course 2007-2011. My trombone tutors were Malcolm Earle Smith and Mark Bassey.
Do you have a personal message for students?
I would really like to interest many young people to take up the trombone as there are not many people out there who play this instrument. Jazz is so enjoyable and I have loved every minute of playing this instrument and have received lots of work as you don't see many trombone players around so please be in touch if you would like to learn or learn how to sing jazz. I also offer violin lessons too having played the instrument for 10 years now.
