- I teach Drum Kit/ Percussion/ Piano/ Composition and Music Technology.
I am knowledgeable in all main genres of Drumming and Percussion, and can also provide tuition in songwriting/composition and all aspects music technology for budding artists. - Tell me about your qualifications.
- BMus (Hons) Royal College of Music (Composition) with additional studies in Drum Kit and Percussion
Graduate Certificate in Film Music from the University of Southern California (Los Angeles)
A Levels in Music and Music Technology
Grade 8 Drum Kit Distinction (Guildhall and Trinity Syllabus)
Grade 5 Theory (ABRSM) - What kind of experience do you have?
- I have been teaching privately and in schools for the past 4 years, teaching beginners up to Grade 8 standard. I have also lead workshops in Taiko drumming and Music for Pre School children.
Performing experience includes playing on the Hollywood Films 'Priest' and 'Fanboy', and frequently with the Royal College of Music Symphony Orchestra and Sinfonietta, whilst at college.
As a film composer I have scored two Hollywood feature films (Cinema releases) and have been part of the music team for numerous Hollywood Blockbusters. Please see www.simon-stevens.com for more info. - How much do you charge?
- £25.00 per 1 hour
£15.00 per 1/2 hour. - Where do you teach?
- I am willing to teach at students' houses in West London, Central London and North London.
- When are you available?
- Any time - I can be as flexible as needed. Times can be arranged during the week or weekends.

- Where and with whom did you train?
- I studied at the Royal College of Music in London, followed by Postgraduate studies at University of Southern California, Los Angeles.
Teachers included Ralph Salmins (Drummer for Van Morrison, Madonna, Robbie Williams) and Matthew Perry (Principle Timpanist with the Royal Philarmonic Orchestra) Christopher Young (Composer for films such as Spiderman 3) and mentored by James Newton Howard (composer for films such as The Dark Knight, King Kong). - Do you have a personal message for students?
- Learning music should be a fun and so I have passion for delivering action-packed lessons. Whilst teaching Drums, I aim at getting students playing along with music tracks as soon as possible, whilst developing fundamental technique and music reading skills.
