- I am a professional violinist working in London and Manchester. After 17 years playing with the Halle Orchestra, I now freelance with with the major orchestras and appear regularly as a guest leader.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I teach violin and music theory.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- My professional qualifications are FTCL (Fellowship of Trinity College London) and LTCL (Licentiate of Trinity College London).
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I have been teaching all my professional career at all levels including Grade 8 and Diploma level. I also give casual lessons to prepare students for college and orchestral auditions.
- How much do you charge?
- Your first lesson is charged at £15 which is a trial lesson to see if I am the right tutor for you. After that, lessons are £30 per hour (beginners will only need half an hour). One-off consultation lessons cost £45 per hour for intermediate students (up to Grade 8) and £60 per hour for advanced students.
- Where do you teach?
- I teach from home and prefer my students to travel to me. Being based in Gatley, allows easy travel from Manchester, Stockport and north Cheshire.
- When are you available?
- As I am a working musician, the times I am available can change from week to week. Usually I can teach from 11:00am until 8:00pm most days of the week.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I am happy to teach all ages from young children to adult and all levels from beginners to advanced.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- I can prepare students for all ABRSM grade exams, ABRSM advanced certificates and all the major music college diplomas.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Yes.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
- I am a member of the Musicians' Union.
- Where and with whom did you train?
- I trained in London at Trinity College of Music. My violin professors where the soloist and orchestral leader Eric Gruenburg & his wife, Korshed Gruenburg.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- Learning an instrument MUST be fun but it also takes a lot of hard work. I will always give my best and expect my students to practice regularly and give their best back during lessons.
