- I am a friendly and experienced singing and piano teacher. I have excellent knowledge and experience in teaching all classical and popular singing styles and techniques from beginner to professional.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I give Classical/Operatic, Pop/Rock/R'n'B/Soul/Country/Folk and Musical Theatre lessons teaching breathing, intonation and performance techniques. Also Vocal and Musical Theatre coaching for auditions/performances.
I teach classical piano up to grade 8 standard. - Tell me about your qualifications.
- I have a first class Bmus Hons degree from the Birmingham Conservatoire and a Btec National Diploma in Popular Music from the BRIT School of Performing Arts. I have also completed acting courses at the Italia Conti Academy, Rose Bruford College and attended acting classes at the Birmingham School of Drama.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I am the founder of the Heather Pepper School - classes for children and adults in singing, keyboard playing and music theory. The school also runs classical and contemporary choirs and singing courses for adults and children and music clubs for toddlers.
Before opening my school I worked as a professional opera singer for opera companies such as English Touring Opera and Swansea City Opera. I also have musical theatre experience singing roles such as 'Jane Eyre' at the Bridewell Theatre, London and performing excerpts from 'The Phantom of the Opera' as Christine at the Birmingham Symphony Hall. I have also sung on programs screened on Channel 4 and BBC 4 respectively.
I have a wide range of private students, two of my regular pupils are a professional classical singer and a professional musical theatre singer. I also have beginner singing and piano students. My youngest student is 5 years old. I have experience entering students in for the ABRSM, Musical theatre Trinity and Rock School exams.
I teach singing and piano for the 'The Music House for Children' in West London and work at the adult education centre in Dartford teaching group piano and singing classes. I also teach singing and piano at St Joseph's Preparatory School, and work for Newham Council as a singing and keyboard tutor - 'Every Child a Musician.' - How much do you charge?
- My studio is a 10 minute walk from Marble Arch tube station. My home is in Hither Green, depending on how far you live from either of these two places I may charge a small extra fee for travelling costs.
- Where do you teach?
- I teach from a studio in Marble Arch, Central London. I also teach at students' homes from zones 1 and 3 in London, ( EC NW SE SW WC). I live in Hither Green so can easily teach students in their homes in the Lewisham, Blackheath, St Johns, Lee, Mottingham, London Bridge, New Cross, Charing Cross and Cannon Street areas.
- When are you available?
- At my Marble Arch studio I am available to teach 10 am - 8 pm - Monday-Thursday, 10 am - 6 pm Friday and 10 am - 5 pm Saturday. I can do home visits from 10 am to 9 pm Monday-Sunday.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I teach singing from age eight upwards, from beginner up to professional level in classical, popular and musical theatre.
I teach piano from age four upwards, from beginner to Grade 8 - Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- If students wish to take exams I prepare classical singing students from Grade 1 ABRSM or Trinity up to Post Graduate level. With rock/pop/r'n'b singers I prepare students from Grade 1 Rock School up to Diploma level and Musical Theatre singers Trinity up to Grade 8
For piano I prepare students from Preparatory exam up to Grade 8 ABRSM. - Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- I have an up-to-date CRB disclosure certificate.
- Where and with whom did you train?
- I trained as a singer with Linda Hutchison and Yvonne Kenny privately and Rita Cullis at the Birmingham Conservatoire. I trained as a pianist with John Lobb.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
- I teach and coach aspiring professional and professional classical and musical theatre singers, singer-songwriters and singers in bands. I also teach beginners and those who want to play piano or sing for fun.

- I am a friendly, experienced singing and piano teacher. My priority is to bring out the best in each individual student and to make your lessons with me as enjoyable and as helpful as possible.
