I am a former barrister with over twenty years experience of teaching law. I teach A level, Undergraduate and LNAT.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
Law. Including all the compulsory subjects, criminal law, contract, tort, trusts, land law, EU law etc. Specialities are Trusts, Medical Negligence, shipping law and Family law. Subjects are offered at all levels from A level to post graduate. I can also help with LNAT preparation.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a degree in a law from Birmingham University (2:1), I passed the Bar Vocational Course with a grade of Competent and I have a masters degree from the University of Wolverhampton (2:1).
What kind of experience do you have?
After qualification I practiced as a paralegal with a large firm of solicitors in Birmingham and then practiced briefly as a barrister with chambers in London and Birmingham. Regrettably that was quite a while and may not be very relevant to what I teach today but it does provide me with plenty of anecdotes to keep things interesting.
I have lectured in law for over twenty years at several FE colleges in the midlands, at the University of Staffordshire and with specialist revision tutoring services.
I also write articles on legal subjects for various on-line publications.
How much do you charge?
£20.00 for A level.
£25.00 for university law.
Discounts are available for long term arrangements and group bookings.
LNAT £22.50 per hour.
Where do you teach?
I teach from home since I have an excellent law library there. I do ocassionally travel to students' homes.
When are you available?
Everyday except Sunday,
Most weekday evenings.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
A level to post grad.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
LNAT.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
Yes.
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I tutor by email and windows messenger. I also tutor by telephone.
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
Gray's Inn.
Tell me about some of your current students.
Currently I have mainly undergraduates on my books. Students from Redbricks as well as newer universities.
