I am a young and enthusiastic music teacher keen to help others develop their musical abilities and I hope to pass on a real love of music.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach bassoon (all levels), bassoon reed making, Piano (beginner to advanced), woodwind chamber music, and music theory.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a Masters degree in Performance from the Royal College of Music and a Bachelor of Music with honours also from the RCM. I received a scholarship for the duration of both my degrees.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have extensive experience as a solo, orchestral and chamber instrumentalist. At my time at the RCM I undertook many courses focused on private tuition (all ages and abilities) and outreach workshops for primary school children gaining all important teaching experience.
How much do you charge?
I charge £30 an hour or £20 for 40 minutes. I prefer not to teach half hour lessons as I feel this is just not enough time to get anything done.
Where do you teach?
I teach at my pupils houses around Aberdeenshire.
When are you available?
I prefer to teach during the week but I can make exceptions.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I like to teach all ages and abilities. However, I should mention that children up to 10 (or sometimes older) can have some difficulties playing a full sized bassoon as their small hands will not reach far enough so I recommend they start on a mini or tenoroon.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
If my pupils wish to enter for exams, I prefer to use ABRSM as this is what I am familiar with. However, I am more than willing to accommodate any requests.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
At the moment I do not teach at any schools so do not have a CRB certificate.
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
For anyone wish to pursue online lessons, I will be using Skype.
