You have a right to be heard! Singing is a joyous ex<x>pression of who you are.... find a way of releasing your voice with ease and simplicity.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
Good strong vocal technique... I was trained (after leaving music college) by an amazing 'old-school' classical singing teacher, Anne Wood; who had been an opera singer & was famous for running her own company (with composer Benjamin Britten), The English Opera Group in the 1940's/50's. She gave me a solid understanding of how to get the very best out of your voice, while protecting it from any damage.
Developing such a life-long technique, which works for any style of singing, is a gradual process which takes time and consistency. Once achieved, it will mean the performer can get through any situation with confidence. It changed my life, well over 20yrs ago, and I have never looked back as a singer!

I also teach: song choice & interpretation, microphone technique, writing out song charts in your key, basic music theory, songwriting skills, simple improvising methods, help with part singing for vocal group work.

I also take vocal workshops; and am planning a series of workshops combining Alexander Technique & singing with world renowned teacher, Nelly Ben-Or.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I was surrounded with music since birth; my mother is a concert pianist and my father was a conductor (I first sang as a child in his choir). My musical education started, with me drawing pictures underneath my mother's piano while she was practising! Having been taken to many concerts throughout childhood, I discovered musical theatre and then jazz in my teens.

I studied on several of the Wavendon Allmusic Courses run by John Dankworth & Cleo Laine.
Took the 2yr Jazz Singers Course at Parkshot

Was awarded a scholarship for the Advanced (post graduate) Jazz Course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama

I also studied acting on the 2yr Acting Course at Questors Theatre;
and at the Actors Institute (gaining a place to study at Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art)

I have also grown up with regular lessons in the Alexander Technique, as my mother is one of the leading teachers in the world now. I had many lessons with Patrick MacDonald, Shoshana Kaminitz, and with my mother, Nelly Ben-Or.
I incorporate this experience into my approach as a singer & singing teacher.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have taught at many different institutions over the past 22yrs including:
Islington & City 6th Form College
Acapella Music Workshop, Islington.
E15 Music Workshop
The City Lit
Morley College
Goldsmiths College
Westminster University
Brunel University
Colchester Institute

I have taught countless private students since leaving the Guildhall, in 1990.

I also taught for 3yrs in Manhattan, New York City (from 2004-2007)
How much do you charge?
My fees are usually £50 for an hour, however this is open to some negotiation on occasion.
Where do you teach?
I teach at home in Wandsworth, South West London.
I live in the middle of Wandsworth, Putney & Southfields.

[Nearest tube: East Putney (zone 2 on District Line), nearest overland: Wandsworth Town. Many different busses stop 5mins away from my house.]
When are you available?
I teach at different times: daytimes, some evenings, and occasionally at the weekends.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
From teenage upwards... all levels of ability, experience & ambition.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I have taught students preparing for: Music Grades, O-Level, A-Level, Btech, Music/Performance Degrees at Universities & Colleges.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
I had a CRB check a few years ago when I was teaching at the Colchester Institute
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I can teach online using Skype, or give advice by email.
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I am a member of the Musicians Union, and the actors union Equity.
Tell me about some of your current students.
I teach students of all levels of ability, experience, and ambition. Some students just want to have some fun! Others are professional singers, who are already successfully performing & recording at the top of their fields; including a couple of award-winning singers who want to improve their vocal technique.
Do you have a personal message for students?
Singing is a joyous ex<x>pression. Good vocal technique should be a simple way of enabling you to express your music... it doesn't need to be complicated!
If it hurts... don't do it! If it feels natural and relaxed, it is probably a good sign.

Come and try one lesson to see if my methods are of interest to you... let me see what you do, and say how I think I can best help you.
