- Hello, I'm Alex and I am very passionate about playing and teaching the violin. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- Violin from beginner up to Grade 8.
Chamber Music (String Duos/ Trios/ Quartets/ Quintets etc.) beginner to advanced levels. - Tell me about your qualifications.
- I am currently in the process of completing my BMus (Hons) Performance degree, specialising in Violin, at TrinityLaban.
I achieved Distinction at ABRSM Grade 8 Violin.
I got an A at Music A Level.
I also have Grade 5 Theory with Distinction. - What kind of experience do you have?
- I started teaching five years ago and brought my first student from complete beginner to Grade 3 with Merit in two years.
I also have experience teaching other students from as young as 5 years old up to adult age, from beginner up to Grade 5.
I enjoy teaching both adults and children so am very happy to tutor students of any age. - How much do you charge?
- I charge £25/hr or £15 for half an hour lesson or coaching at my home in SE10.
I am prepared to offer reduced prices for group lessons, depending on the size of the group. - Where do you teach?
- I prefer to teach at my home in SE10 near Westcombe Park station which is close to Greenwich, but can travel to students homes in the area if necessary.
- When are you available?
- I have some availability most days - please enquire.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- All ages and all standards up to Grade 8.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- All ABRSM and Trinity grade exams and I can help you with Music Theory too.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Yes.
- Where and with whom did you train?
- I studied with Andrew Bernadi from a young age and had Masterclasses with Hugh Bean at the age of 11.
I studied with Diana Cummings during my auditions for music college and then learned with Richard Ireland for my first two years at Trinity.
I am currently studying with Andrew Sherwood. - Do you have a personal message for students?
- My aim is to make learning the Violin fun and enjoyable at the same time as helping you to achieve your full musical potential.
I can tailor our lessons to suit your needs, whether you aspire to do well in grade exams or just want some help learning a few tunes.
