- Hello, dear musical friends, and welcome to the world of music!
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I teach mainly flute and piccolo, although I have no problems teaching the recorder as well. If you are interested in the more theoretical side of music, I can help with aural skills, history of music, harmony, etc.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I graduated from the "Dobrin Petkov" National School of Music and Dance Art, Bulgaria in 2008, where I got my Diploma of Secondary Education, as well as a Certificate of Professional Qualification. I have also got the teacher’s union prize for high musical and educational achievements – “Dobrin Petkov” National School of Music and Dance Art, Plovdiv, Bulgaria, 2008.
In September that year I continued my education in the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (formerly Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama). - What kind of experience do you have?
- During my years of musicianship, I have performed both as a soloist and as a member of many orchestras. I have also done the Side-by-side scheme (2010) and the One year apprenticeship scheme (2011) with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
I am member of the Live Music Now! Scotland scheme, where I have the great opportunity to interact with lots of different people and perform for them, together with my pianist Silviya Mihaylova. - How much do you charge?
- The first lesson is free - since we all need to meet, chat and see whether the student likes me (and vice versa), I have found that is much better if we do not think about money.
Otherwise, I charge £25 per hour (60 min.) and £15 for half an hour.
I do not mind whether I teach at my home, or at my student's, however if I need to travel quite far and it is expensive I would prefer if it is at my place. - Where do you teach?
- I usually prefer to teach at my house, however going to private homes is negotiable if it works best.
- When are you available?
- Since we live in such a busy world I do try to be quite flexible with everybody, this is why I do not like to put any hours and would prefer just to speak about that over the phone or in an e-mail.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- Everything is good. As I have already said, there is no wrong time to start playing an instrument.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Currently applying for one.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
- British Flute Society.
- Where and with whom did you train?
- 2008 - now Katherine Bryan (principal flute with the RSNO)
2000 - 2008 Ivaylo Vasilev
2005 - 2008 prof. Lidiya Oshavkova
I have been to many masterclasses with players such as:
William Bennet, Emmanuel Pahud, Iain Clark, Phillippe Bernold, etc.
