- Hello,
I am an experienced performer and music tutor, seeking pupils of all ages and abilities. If you require any further information, please feel free to get in touch.
James - Which subject(s) do you teach?
- My main instruments are Bass guitar and Double bass. Styles I am familiar with include Rock, Pop, Jazz, R&B, Hip-Hop, and Country.
I can also teach electric/acoustic guitar to an intermediate level, and music theory to an advanced level.
I can teach improvisation for any instrument.
I tutor Music students on harmony and listening skills, as well as other aspects of Music GCSE and A Level qualifications.
I also teach how to use Sibelius notation software. - Tell me about your qualifications.
- BMus (Hons) Jazz Performance 2:1 from Trinity College of Music
Grade 8 (distinction) Bass Guitar (2004) - What kind of experience do you have?
- I currently teach bass guitar and double bass at a secondary school. This post has given me valuable experience in teaching children of different ages and abilities. I have worked as an assistant tutor on the Trinity Jazz Summer School (http://www.trinitysummerschool.co.uk) for two years, which has enabled me to gain experience in teaching all ages of musicians.
As a performer I have performed at such prestigious venues as Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, The Royal Festival Hall, SHUNT, The Vortex Jazz Club, and Indig02. I have also appeared on television, performing at the 02 arena. - How much do you charge?
- £30.00 per hour
£20.00 per half hour - Where do you teach?
- I normally teach at my home, however, arrangements to teach at another location such as your home can be made.
- When are you available?
- Potentially any time.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- 4+
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- ABRSM, Rockschool.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Yes.
- Where and with whom did you train?
- Trinity College of Music, London.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
- My current students range from the age of 12 to 16. Some of my students have been playing for less than a year, and some are preparing for their grade 8 exam. Even though I teach a broad ability range, all my students enjoy varied lessons based around playing songs, rather than being limited to exercises. This makes learning music more enjoyable.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- My main goal is to enthuse my pupils, and enable them to progress down the musical path of their choice, in an organised and fun manner.
