- I am a french horn teacher with 10 years experience. I have taken a number of students through from their first note to Grade 8. I also teach general brass, beginner piano and guitar. Thank you for visiting my page!
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I teach French Horn, Piano, Guitar and Music Theory.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I have a Bachelor's Degree in Music from The Royal Academy of Music.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I have ten years teaching experience, both privately and in schools. I taught french horn at James Allen's Girl's School from 2005-10 during which time I took a two students from their first note to getting a distinction in their Grade 8. I also teach privately in London. I have experience in ensemble coaching with Dulwich Youth Orchestra, James Allen's Girls' School Orchestra and South London Symphony Orchestra. I was an instrumental coach on the Royal College of Music Summer School in 2004 and I was involved in educational workshops in London nursery schools between 2001 and 2004 with my wind quintet.
I am a successful freelance french horn player, I play with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, The Orchestra of the Royal Opera House and many others. I also play on recording sessions, recently for Kanye West and Sting.I am also a singer songwriter with lots of experience playing in bands. Making my own music has always been very important to me. - How much do you charge?
- I charge £30 for a 45 minute lesson, and I may charge extra for travel depending on the distance. If you are interested in group lessons please contact me for further details.
- Where do you teach?
- I am happy to teach at my house in Crouch End in North London. I am also happy to make home visits within a 15 mile radius. I live very close to Highgate, Hampstead Camden, Muswell Hill and Alexandra Palace.
- When are you available?
- I am flexible with times and days.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I am experienced teaching children from age 5 all the way up to mature students. I teach french horn at all levels, and piano and guitar to intermediate level.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- I prepare my students for Grade Exams with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Yes I can provide a CRB certificate if required
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
- I belong to the Musicians Union.
- Where and with whom did you train?
- I studied at the Royal Academy of Music with Richard Watkins and Michael Thompson.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
- Some of my past french horn students who became advanced players have gone on to principle positions with their university orchestras and still love playing music.
