Personal Message
I am a highly experienced Trombone player and professional peripatetic brass teacher, passionate about brass playing and sharing my knowledge and experiences with students.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
My principal instrument is Trombone but I am qualified and have experience teaching all brass Instruments.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I studied the Trombone to the highest level at The Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and then progressed to a Postgraduate Certificate of Education in Music with Specialist Instrumental Teaching Manchester Metropolitan University.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching Brass Instruments for many years now with local ensembles, by having my own private pupils and professionally, I work as a Peripatetic Brass teacher with Staffordshire Performing Arts (SPA), delivering one to one, group and whole class instrumental lessons. I also direct a number of ensembles for (SPA). I previously taught brass for Merchant Taylors' Boys' School in Crosby, Liverpool.
How much do you charge?
My current rates stand as £25 per hour or £15 per half hour session. If I have to travel to the lesson I will charge an amount extra to cover my expenses. This can be worked out per individual case.
Where do you teach?
I teach at my own home in Macclesfield, just off Buxton road only a short walk from Macclesfield train station. There are excellent train links to most areas or I have ample room for cars to park at the property. I am willing to travel into Manchester and Stockport for teaching and into parts of Cheshire, Derbyshire and North Staffordshire.
When are you available?
Usually I am available from late afternoon through the evenings and at weekends. During school holidays my teaching times can become far more flexible.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I am happy to teach any age of pupil as anyone can benefit from the enjoyment of learning a brass instrument! It is never too late or too early to start to learn. My professional work covers all ages both Primary (Key Stages 1 and 2) and Secondary (Key stages 3, 4 and 5).
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I frequently enter pupils for the Associate Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) exams and pride myself on having never had a pupil fail. ABRSM exams post Grade 5 harbour valuable UCAS points, an extra great reason to enter. In addition to these Graded exams, I prepare children for recital performances for GCSE and A Level music exams.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
I have a current CRB disclosure certificate.
Where and with whom did you train?
The Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.
Manchester Metropolitan University.
