Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach French Horn from beginner to advanced and trumpet, tuba and tenor horn from beginner to Grade 5. Returning players and adult students most welcome.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a Master of Music in Performance Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Performance.
What kind of experience do you have?
I was principal horn of the RAF Central Band and have played with many professional orchestras including the London Synphony Orchestra, the Philharmonia and was also principal horn of the Sadlers Wells Opera Orchestra.
How much do you charge?
My basic rate is £24 per hour and I give 30, 40 or 50 minutes lessons as well as the full hour. Reduced rates for the unwaged or shared lessons.
Where do you teach?
I have a purpose built music studio.
When are you available?
I am available at all times except when I am away from home playing.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach from beginner children to mature adults.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
Yes, I have an enhanced CRB certificate.
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
Lessons online using Skype and Windows Messenger.
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
The Musicians Union and my professional diary is managed by Julian Morgenstern's Diary service.
Where and with whom did you train?
I trained at the Royal Military School of Music and the Royal Academy of Music with postgraduate studies at Brunel University.
Tell me about some of your current students.
Three of my students have gone on to Music College this year.
Do you have a personal message for students?
Horn playing is both a challenge and fun and has endlesss possibilities for enjoyable music making.
