- Personal Message
- I am happy to teach and share my love of music with anyone. It is never too late to learn a new instrument, so if you want to learn for fun or to go through the grades I think I will be perfect for the job.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I teach all of the above, but my main instrument is the trombone.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- Currently a final year undergraduate at the Royal College of Music.
Grade 8 Trombone.
A Levels in Music, English Literature, Religious Studies and Drama.
Grade 5 Music theory.
Grade 5 Piano. - What kind of experience do you have?
- During my degree I did courses such as the art of teaching and outreach work which involved leading workshops in primary schools. Now I am keen to have more private students to work with.
I have played principle trombone in both the Royal College of Musics Symphony Orchestra and Sinfonietta. I also play in the RCM big band, New perspectives orchestra and Wind and Brass ensemble. Outside of college I am a member of the Clic Sargent Orchestra, with whom I have played in the Cadogan Hall, I have also played for a student run opera company and played with Rick Wakeman at Hampton Court Palace! I am originally from the north of England and was brought up playing in Brass Bands. - How much do you charge?
- I charge £25 per hour or £15 for half an hour.
- Where do you teach?
- I am based around Hammersmith and I am happy to travel to teach (though if the distance is far there may be a small travelling fee.) I am still living in student accommodation at the moment, so it is not really practical for me to teach from home so travelling to students houses would be best for me.
- When are you available?
- I am available most evenings and weekends. My time table is very flexible and so should be able to find a convenient time for both of us.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- Happy to teach all ages and abilities.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) graded exams.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- I do not have one at the moment, as I have never needed one before. But, I am happy to have one sorted if necessary.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
- International Trombone Association
- Where and with whom did you train?
- I am currently in my 4th year at the Royal College of Music studying with Lindsay Shilling and Roger Harvey. I have been accepted on to the postgraduate course at the RCM, so will be continuing my studies there next year.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- Any questions don't hesitate to ask and I look forward to meeting you.
