Personal Message
I am a French native speaker passionate about teaching languages. I have six years of experience in teaching one-on-one and in small groups, using both academic and cultural resources.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach French at all levels, from first grapplings with foreign languages at primary school to working on French literature at university and adult beginners/improvers. Lessons can focus on supporting the school curriculum, exam preparation, conversation practice or simply "going further" with your French.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I hold a French Baccalaureate with an A* in French Literature.

I also have a First Class BA in Politics and an MA with Distinction in Middle East Politics.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching French for six years, including one year as a French Language Assistant at a Sixth Form College in Nottingham where I was responsible for preparing the students for their AS and A2 oral exams. I have taught university-level language students coming back from their year abroad as well as Year 6 pupils whose parents wanted a head start on language learning.
How much do you charge?
I charge £25 an hour, and £10 per additional student.
Where do you teach?
I live in New Cross/New Cross Gate and can teach either at home or at students' home. I travel to Peckham, Dulwich, Brockley, Camberwell, Brixton, Hackney, Greenwich, Islington (boroughs of Southwark, Lewisham, Lambeth, Greenwich, Tower Hamlets, and South East and Central London in general)...
When are you available?
I am available seven days a week. I am quite busy but I can generally schedule the lessons to fit around students' commitments.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
All levels and all ages.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I can prepare students for GCSE and A-Level exams, as well as university subject interviews and exams.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
As I volunteer with young people in Brixton and Hackney, I currently hold two up to date CRB checks as well as the French equivalent.
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
Online tutoring per se is not very adapted to language learning, but in between face-to-face sessions I encourage students to send me any questions or small pieces of work that need proofreading or feedback via email.
Tell me about some of your current students.
I am currently helping a Year 8 pupil with her French schoolwork (understanding grammar, learning vocabulary, listening comprehension) using both textbooks and authentic French resources such as teenage comic books and TV shows/documentaries.
My current students also include an adult beginner, focusing on oral communication through textbook exercises, conversation practice and theatre clips and role plays, as well as a music student with whom I work on pronunciation as well as vocabulary learning.
Do you have a personal message for students?
I am an enthusiastic and reliable Frenchie who believes languages are fun and relevant!
There is no such thing as being bad at languages, but learning a foreign language in a 30-strong classroom does not allow for optimal progression, whether it's in terms of understanding or confidence. Which is why individual or small group tuition is ideal, as it enables you to learn in a way that is appropriate to your needs and gives you plenty of opportunity to practise. Even if you think you're studying just to ace that exam or be able to say a few words on holiday, by combining your academic requirements with topics or methods you're interested in (and their French equivalent of course) you will be able to not only reach that goal but also gain an insight into a different language, country and culture...
