From the very beginning, I think it's so important to remind people that learning an instrument is about so much more than your individual lessons. One of the most rewarding things about playing an instrument is being able to play with other people, a duet with a friend, putting your pieces together with piano for an exam, a school concert. All of these things allow your musical skills to come to life.

Keep looking for opportunities to perform, as you will learn so much from not just your teacher, but your peers, your friends and within an orchestra.
