Something that really gets to me is the way that reality television has cheapened the art of singing. I am always explaining to my students the importance of vocal technique and the bad effects of not studying and utilising technique properly.

Take Mariah Carey as an example. Years of singing amazing harmonic notes from the throat instead of stabilising her core, grounding herself and singing from the diaphram, means that she now has limited range. To the point of not being able to sing her hit songs.

A pianist does not know the notes and chords of the piano without being taught. A violinist will never understand how to properly apply technique without being taught. The first question that an actor is asked when attending an audition is, 'Where did you study?'

Every other art except singing requires training, lessons and extensive knowledge of a variety of techniques. For some reason, the majority feel that you don't need to learn the technical art of singing.

I am here to change that.
