Why You Should You Take Yoga Lessons
The word ‘yoga’ comes from the Sanskrit word for ‘unite’ and is often considered a union of methods and disciplines. The Indian wise man Patanjali put together the Yoga Sutra around 2,000 years ago.
The Sutra is a collection of 195 philosophical practises which make up most of yoga as it’s practised today.
It also explains the 8 limbs of yoga, Yama (discipline), Niyama (moral observance), Asana (body posture), Pranyama (breath control), Pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses), Dharana (concentration), Dhyana (meditation), and Samadhi (bliss).
Whether for relaxing, gaining flexibility, getting ready for childbirth, or losing weight, there are plenty of benefits to practising yoga.
Yoga is for everyone! There are yoga poses for all levels.
If you want to become a skilled yogi, you have to practise yoga daily. So grab your water bottle because yoga’s much more than just meditating, you have to break a sweat!
The Benefits of Yoga
There are physical, emotional, and mental benefits to practising yoga; and yoga blends these three aspects together.
Physically, yoga poses can help align your spine, tone muscles, and make you more flexible. Yoga is also great for your abs.
It’s also good for back pain with poses that stretch your spinal muscles and your hips. So, what are you waiting for?
Doing physical exercise is great for your immune system, too. This is not just great during the winter months when there’s a cold going around, but all year round.
Yoga helps your nervous system and can help you manage stress better. Thanks to breathing exercises, students can let go of their worries and considerably improve their emotional state.
Yoga and relaxation techniques are great for improving your self-awareness.
Finally, yoga can enhance your spiritual awareness. Yoga originated in India and its spiritual roots can still be seen today. You could skip this part of yoga but if you want the complete experience, we recommend starting with this aspect.
Learning to Meditate
Yoga courses often include meditation classes. There are plenty of health benefits both physical and mental.
Meditating can improve your concentration, calm you down, relieve tension, and combat stress. Meditation techniques can help you gain confidence and improve your general well-being.
Who would have thought that relaxing could be so good for your health?
The breathing techniques, which focus on taking deep breaths, help stimulate internal organs and can improve digestion.
