What kind of experience do you have?
I have worked in a variety of educational roles for over twenty years and am qualified to teach all the subjects required by the Early Years and Primary Curriculum. I can therefore help with home-schooling, or pre-school preparation, in addition to the usual requests for help with Maths and English in KS1 and 2. I offer SATs preparation for both English and Maths, along with private / grammar school entrance exam preparation.

As a full-time tutor, I have worked with all ages, from pre-school to year 6. I have a passion for helping children in Maths and have helped many children to increase their ability and confidence in this area of learning. In order to do this, I use a variety of fun, educational and active games, alongside ICT and written challenges to help maintain children's engagement and enthusiasm in their learning. I also give lots of encouragement and positive feedback to boost confidence levels.

Each lesson is planned for each individual pupil, meaning that activities are personalised to the interests of each child.
How much do you charge?
£26 per hour at the Top tuition Teaching Room. Shorter or longer lessons can be taught, depending on the needs of each individual child.

I also teach online lessons via SKYPE. These lessons usually last about half an hour and cost £22.

Fees include all resources, apart from specific workbooks which are ordered on an individual basis if required. For example, SAT's revision books.
Where do you teach?
I have a fully resourced teaching room, in Market Bosworth, meaning that the full curriculum can be taught to a high standard. Parents are welcome to stay and observe the lesson, or leave, whichever is right for the individual child.

Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
Online lessons are taught via SKYPE. Parents are expected to be available to speak to, at the beginning and end of each lesson. Lessons are always arranged via the parent, even if the pupil has their own computer and e.mail account.

I am happy to send work by e.mail for students to complete and then return for marking.
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
Where and with whom did you train?
I studied at the University of Hull where I gained a BA (Hons) in Learning and Teaching (2:1)

I also studied at York St John University where I gained a distinction in a Foundation Degree in Supporting Learning.
Tell me about some of your current students.
During the past three years, I have taught about 35 students, from Early Years to Year 6, including home-schooled pupils. When I moved to Market Bosworth, many of my old pupils asked me to continue teaching them via SKYPE, as they did not want to lose me.
Here are some of comments from pupils and parents...

What is good about Top Tuition?

It really helped me with the things that I struggled on. When I went I could not do my times tables but now I can do them all the way up to my 15 times tables!!!
Jessica - Year 6

What could be improved about TopTuition

No improvement needed, do not change a thing Sue. 100% perfection
Michelle Rushton (Year 5 parent)

Do you think that Top Tuition provides good value for money?

Yes Sue is worth every penny
Mandy King (Year 3 parent)

Do you have any positive comments which could be included on the Top Tuition or other tuition websites?

Sue has infinite patience. She keeps all the lessons varied and my daughter has actually enjoyed them. (This, from a child who has previously shuddered at the mere mention of the word ‘grammar’)
Sian Lewis (Year 6 parent

In meeting Sue, within minutes we were at ease and more importantly, so was Josh. He thoroughly enjoyed his time with Sue and we are eternally grateful for the help and clear understanding of what Josh required to help him attain the grades he deserved.
Sue is a genuine, caring teacher who cares about what an individual child needs to be successful and bring out the best in her pupil – extremely rewarding.
Mark Cooke (Year 5 parent)

Sue is a born teacher with an absolute passion for her chosen vocation. I would entrust my children’s education and well-being with Sue in an instant, without reservation. Thank you so much on behalf of Libby and Anna and of course Mum and Dad. You will be greatly missed.

Do you have a personal message for students?
I would love to hear from you, if you would like your child to succeed and fulfill his or her potential. It is so important to get help if your child is struggling at school; earlier, rather than later. The foundations of learning must be in place, before your child can progress. So, If your child is struggling in any area of the National Curriculum , I can help them to catch up. I can help their confidence levels to help them feel positive about their learning.
