Personal Message
I am an enthusiastic and experienced singer and singing teacher. I use a classically-based technique, and will support you in improving your singing experience, whatever your age, level and aims. Try it out!
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I concentrate on a classical singing technique, as well as theory, sight-singing and aural skills. I ensure that singers are equipped with a solid vocal technique and that they develop a lively imagination for communication.

I have special expertise with languages: I am a native French speaker and, as well as being fluent in English,I speak Italian and have a good working knowledge of German. I have had over a year of Alexander Technique lessons and I use its principles to help pupils in proper bocy alignment and in easing tension as they sing.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a B.Mus. from McGill University in Montreal and an M.Mus from the Université de Montréal.
I have a PhD in Musicology from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (Birmingham City University).
I also have a Diploma in Performance and Communication from the University of Toronto, and I regularly attend workshops and courses on interpretation, technique and vocal anatomy.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have sung professionally with the Opéra de Montréal. As a member of the professional chorus of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, I was a soloist in two of their recordings. I was also a member of the Tudor Singers of Montreal, a professional touring chamber choir. Both in Canada and in the UK I have appeared as a soloist with choral societies, and have toured with chamber opera ensemble Lyrichoregra20, and continue to give solo recitals.

I have been teaching singing privately for over 25 years. I have taught singing at the McGill Conservatory of Music and in this country at Repton School, at Abbots Bromley School for Girls, and at other independent schools. I was also vocal coach for the South Derbyshire Cantabile Choir and Youth Chorale. I have given master classes in Canada and in the US and continue to do so here in the UK. This past summer, I was invited as a singing tutor in a summer school in the south of France, and will return in August 2018.

I currently teach the Singers' Masterclass in French Song at Morley College, helping singers with the particular challenges and repertoire of the French mélodie.
How much do you charge?
My basic rate is £38.00 per hour, the same since 2016. For children and young people aged 18 and under, I charge a lower rate. I also offer special rates for lesson blocks and for an entire term's lessons: please inquire!

I offer a special free trial and mini-consultation lesson.
Where do you teach?
I teach mainly from my home, where I have access to my extensive score and reference library, as well as to my computer and printer for quick repertoire updates.

I live within a short distance from Orpington, Bromley, Bexley and Eltham.
When are you available?
I am available weekdays and evenings, as well as on Saturdays.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach children from around age 9, as well as adults of all ages and of all levels of competence. I have worked with highly talented and advanced singers as well as some who need gentle and constant support and encouragement. Beginners of all ages are welcome!
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I prepare pupils for ABRSM exams up and including Diploma level, as well as for auditions, festivals and competitions.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I am a member of AOTOS (The Association of Teachers of Singing).
Where and with whom did you train?
While at McGill, I studied with Prof. Winston Purdy, and with Gaston Germain during my Graduate degree. I have taken singing courses with renowned author and vocal pedagogue Richard Miller in the United States and in Austria; other teachers include Gérard Souzay and Dalton Baldwin in France, and Martial Singher in Canada.
Do you have a personal message for students?
I very much look forward to helping you achieve your singing goals!
