Personal Message
A caring and patient teacher, my aim is for you to enjoy learning to play the violin or viola, while also learning good technique and posture to enable you to excel.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach violin, viola, and music theory to all ages.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a Master of Music from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, and a Bachelor of Music in Performance from the University of Ottawa in Canada.
What kind of experience do you have?
Currently I teach violin lessons and cello group classes in schools for Lewisham Music Service, and I have taught private music lessons for a number of years.

Having played violin and viola for many years, I enjoy a varied musical career. I freelance with various orchestras, and have been a member of the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra and l'Orchestre de la francophonie. I enjoy playing in the pit for musicals, and have played for the touring show Video Games Live. I also have a love for chamber music, and my string quartet, the Keats Quartet, plays concerts in London and across the UK.
How much do you charge?
I charge £35 per hour, or £20 for a half-hour lesson.
Where do you teach?
I teach at my home on Cottonmill Lane in St Albans, Hertfordshire. It is within walking distance to both St Albans City and St Albans Abbey station, and bus routes.
When are you available?
As a freelance musician, my schedule is flexible, with availability weekdays/evenings. I teach term time and am also available during most school holidays.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all levels from age 6 to adult.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
ABRSM exams, Trinity exams
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes - most recently done in February 2017.
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
Incorporated Society of Musians (ISM).
Where and with whom did you train?
I studied with Rennie Regehr at the University of Ottawa in Canada, where I won the Gaston Héon Undergraduate Scholarship in Music and the Aruna& Rupa Anantaraman Violin Scholarship while completing my Bachelor of Music degree. I also studied with Richard Crabtree and Walter Reiter at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, where I received a Trinity Laban Scholarship and completed my Master of Music degree.
Do you have a personal message for students?
With a little work, everyone is capable of learning to play an instrument - take pride in your achievements and have fun!
