Personal Message
I'm a virtuoso Jazz and Classical pianist offering students the chance to learn on a grand piano in the heart of Central London, at low cost. Among other subjects, I teach Jazz piano and Classical piano both from absolute beginner to highly advanced.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I'm a professional pianist offering tuition primarily in piano, saxophone and music theory (see paragraph below re specialist tuition for other instruments). I have completed courses at the Royal Academy of Music in London taking masterclasses with renowned artists such as Gwilym Simcock and Christopher Elton. While specialising in Jazz and improvisation, I can also teach purely Classical piano, from beginner to maestro. I can teach both the Classical and Jazz grades from 1 to 8 up to ABRSM diploma and beyond on piano, and to diploma on clarinet and saxophone. Everyone of any ability, with any goal is welcome and age is no barrier. My approach is relaxed, friendly and encouraging, yet at the same time I like to guide and focus my students to see them really improve and do well. My goal is to see them progress to a point where they have the most freedom to express themselves musically. For this reason I teach my students using a state-of-the-art grand piano.

For instruments other than piano, saxophone and clarinet, I offer stylisic but not instrumental tuition. These lessons are for people who already have some skill on their instrument but would like some specialist tuition in Jazz improvisation and in the art of improvising with an accompanist. I'll give guidence on how to improvise over chord changes with an emphasis on how to use Jazz language. I'll introduce important concepts in the harmony like the circle of 5ths, the turnarounds, and chord substitution. All levels of Jazz players are welcome.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have completed courses at The Royal Academy of Music in London studying Jazz performance and theory. I have also studied Classical piano to the highest level in the studios of Neil Immelman and Ruth Nye MBE - of the Royal College of Music.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have had years of both teaching and performing experience in a variety of different musical settings. I'm experienced in teaching all different ages and abilities. I have performed with some of the UK's top musicians in some of the country's top music venues including Ronnie Scott's and Chelsea's 606. I have previously also been part of NYJO. Some Jazz musicians I have performed with include Alan Barnes, Kenny Wheeler and Stan Sultzman.
How much do you charge?
My rate is £40 for an hour's lesson.
Where do you teach?
I teach in spacious and pleasant surroundings from my studio, which is in a convienent location near Mayfair in Central London. I can be reached within 15 mins of Oxford Street or 5 mins of London Victoria.
When are you available?
I'm available during weekdays and weekday evenings. I can also teach on certain times at weekends. I can teach during school holidays.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
All ages and abilities. High levels can be achieved all throughout life.
