I can help you to develop your confidence in public speaking and communication skills.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Drama at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. I also teach students preparing for LAMDA exams, and I tutor students preparing for auditions, job interviews and public speaking events.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a BA Hons Degree in Music, and I have a PGCE in Secondary Education, specialising in Drama with English as a second subject. I am a trained LAMDA teacher.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have over twenty-five years experience as a secondary school teacher, both in England and abroad. I have directed a number of productions involving both children and adults, ranging from Shakespeare to Stoppard, and I have participated in a wide variety of community projects, such as a village performance of "Noye's Fludde". I have worked in primary schools on projects targeting social skills, and I have developed a performance group touring primary schools and homes for the elderly. I have facilitated students performing in the Crypt at Canterbury Cathedral to an international audience, and I had the opportunity to produce a performance for Her Majesty The Queen.
How much do you charge?
I charge £30 per hour for one-to-one tuition, plus travel expenses. I am happy to negotiate for group fees.
Where do you teach?
I can teach at home, or travel to students' homes. I am based near Didcot, and can travel up to forty miles around this area (Oxford, Reading, Swindon).
When are you available?
I am available most evenings and some days. I can also work during school holidays.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach students from seven years old to eighty. I can work towards Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 levels, Lamda and other Drama exam boards, such as EdExcel and AQA.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
If it involves public speaking for work, auditions, exams or personal self-confidence building, I can help you develop your skills.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Where and with whom did you train?
I trained at Dartington College of Arts for my Music Degree, and at Bretton Hall College of Higher Education, for my PGCE.
Tell me about some of your current students.
This year I have a number of students working towards Lamda Communication and Performing exams. I am also teaching home-schooled students in Oxford, and I run drama classes for students in Wallingford, Didcot and Blewbury. To date I have a 100% success rate with Lamda exams.
