After studying architecture I moved into Set Design at the BBC as an assistant designer, working and training with many generous and talented designers. After 5 years I left to become a freelance Set Designer and Set Dresser for Film, TV & Commercials.

My professional career currently consists of painting & design commissions for film, interiors and private clients, whilst working on personal painting projects. For the past 6 years I have tutored a small number of students.I find the variety in my working life very satisfying.
I have extensive experience working on high quality productions for film & TV, collaborating with a wide range of disciplines, requiring both high quality work.
Along with experience as a visiting artist at schools,I took a City & Guilds Certificate for Deliverying Learning,to enable me to create sessions to suit my individual student's learning styles, abilities and needs .
What kind of experience do you have?

As an Production Designer/Art Director/Set Dresser I collaborated with creatives such as Directors, Lighting Cameramen, Costume, Makeup, Special Effects Designers, Editors and Technicians is part of the process to produce the sets for Film/Commercials. Including concept design, mood boards, budgeting, technical drawing, sketching, model making, styling, research, set dressing and special prop design working independently and as part of a team.
I also produce paintings and artwork for Films and Commercials working for Production Designers and Directors (including 'Harry Potter' films,) and for Interiors with Designers and private clients.

Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
This works really well for students outside the London area and people abroad (though I always encourage at least one face to face session if possible). I create a Bespoke design / art project and specify deadlines.Work is emailed to me (jpegs) for critiques, support and encouragement .This works well for my foreign students, still allowing me to provide inspiration and direction in order to produce high quality work.
Where and with whom did you train?
I worked from the BBC Television Centre,London alongside a select group of talented designers & creatives for 5 years after I left university and helped me develop as a creative and set designer.I then felt at a stage where i wanted to leave to become a freelance designer for Film and TV.
