About Joe
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been living in London for the past 5 years and have built up a career as a session bassist as well as a constant live performer. NYJO has been a huge aid in my development as a musician and has given me a huge amount of experience in performance and recording. The band have toured across Europe and the whole of the UK and most recently I enjoyed recording my second album with the band that saw us perform great compositions from some of the UK's best composers Tim Garland, Nikki Isles and Julian Seigal and through my success in NYJO I was asked to play for the BBC Big band. I have been leading my own quartet that focuses on modern arrangements of standard jazz repertoire. We have been featured twice at the Ronnie Scotts 'Late Late' show as well as a concert at the Aldeburgh music Festival in the summer.
I am currently playing electric bass in a modern jazz trio lead by pianist James Beckwith. We have recorded a debut EP and through high praise spent last year promoting the album with gigs in London, Manchester and Lancaster jazz festivals. The trio are due to record a second record and tour extensively throughout the UK later on this year.
I have also recently played with the London Symphony Orchestra, Irelands national Orchestra; the RTE and the Liverpool Philharmonic.
