I currently hold a full CRB disclosure certificate.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I currently teach Woodwind and Theory at the Cheadle Hulme Music Academy.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
I currently have students working towards various levels of ABRSM and Trinity/Guildhall exams on Sax, Bassoon, Clarinet, Flute and Theory.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching privately for 10 years. In addition I have taught GCSE and A-Level music in secondary schools for 5 years. I have performed in bands, chamber ensembles and orchestras across the north of England and have promoted and developed live music events. I have conducted many choirs and have arranged and composed music for various groups. With the right dedication anyone can experience the true pleasure of playing music and my experience will allow me to tailor the lessons to your needs. I use the piano in all my lessons to help develop ensemble skills and to add fun to the session. This helps in preparation for exams, in which I will generally accompany you.

I am an experienced and committed music teacher who will always endeavour to make your lessons fun and rewarding. The sessions are all about you and I will tailor the lessons to suit your needs.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I can offer tuition of Bassoon, Clarinet, Flute, and Saxophone as well as Theory. I can give classical or jazz tuition.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a Master of Music form the RNCM
I have a BMus (hons) from the RNCM
I am a Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music (LRSM).
I hold various graded practical certificates for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM).
- How much do you charge?
My fee is £25 per hour. I can, in some cases, offer half hour sessions at £15. The first lesson is half price as it gives you and I a chance to discuss how future lessons will work and tackle any questions that you may have about the lessons.
- Where do you teach?
I teach at my home in Levenshulme.
- When are you available?
I have limited spaces in my timetable currently, but will endeavour to meet your needs wherever possible. I will, wherever possible, keep you at the same time each week.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I can teach any level from complete beginner to advanced players. Due to the nature of woodwind intruments, however, I cannot take anyone who has not yet grown their front adult teeth. In such cases however I can offer tuition on recorder as a precursor to another wind instrument.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I would always recommend that students work towards qualifications as it gives a sense of achievement and often leads to quicker development, however it is not for everyone. If students wish to work towards qualifications I work with the ABRSM syllabus, however I can also teach to the Trinity/Guildhall syllabus especially when taking jazz tuition.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
Music is a hard but rewarding skill, and whether you are just looking to learn for fun or want to work towards a career in the music profession, I can tailor my lessons to meet your needs. I can assist you in instrument hire and believe in supportive and encouraging education. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
Hello. My name is Adam and I have been an avid music lover my entire life. I am am passionate music teacher with 10 years experience. I hope to answer any questions you have below but please do not hesitate to get in touch should you have any.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I am a woodwind and piano specialist. I teach flute, clarinet, sax, and piano (both classical and jazz styles), bassoon, composition, and chamber music. I can tailor my lessons to suit your needs. I can teach more generalist subjects such as music theory and musicianship/aural. I can also teach pop piano either casually or to the Rock School syllabus.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I studied the clarinet and piano at school working towards ABRSM exams, then went on to study the bassoon at the Royal Northern College of Music. While I was there I also studied composition and music pedagogy, I went on to complete my Masters degree in 2010. I have worked as a freelance musician across the north of England and in 2013 I became a qualified teacher having completed my PGCE at Edge Hill University. I am a Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music in Bassoon
- How much do you charge?
My hourly rate is £30. I can offer 30 minute sessions for £17 and 45 minute sessions for £24. Chamber music is £40 per hour and is a minimum 2 hour session this will cover room hire as part of the fee. The first session is half price and is a great opportunity for us to discuss your needs and how the lessons will progress.
- Where do you teach?
I teach at my home in Chorlton. I will consider local travel but there will be an additional charge for this based on your location, this is to cover costs and travel time. Please ask for a quote if you require me to travel to you.
- When are you available?
I have slots available most evenings and weekends. I will also teach during school holidays as required. I will not tie you into a contract and charge lesson by lesson.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
It is never too late to start learning an instrument and I currently have students ranging from 9 to 65. Due to the nature of embrasure development any student under the age of 7 will need to initially learn the recorder before moving onto other woodwind instruments. I will take you through the entire exam syllabus from beginner to diploma or am happy to accept students who are part way through their musical development. Feel free to get in touch should you wish to discuss this further.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I always recommend the ABRSM syllabus for classic instruments and Trinity/Guildhall for students wishing to study jazz. Exams aren't for everyone but do help you develop quicker and give you a benchmark as to your progression. We can work on a casual style of lesson for students wanting to work in a pop style at the piano.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
Whatever your ambition, get in touch and book a consultation lesson for half price. We can discuss your needs and it will give you the chance to see if I'm the right teacher for you. I want your sessions to be fun and engaging and will work hard to help you achieve. Learning an instrument is a difficult but ultimately rewarding experience and with dedication and passion anyone can achieve.

Having returned to playing the clarinet after a period of 30 years i have found the initial re-learning period difficult. Adam has helped me through this time with much understanding. His approach has been geared to my immediate needs but has always had a proper regard for disciplined playing.
I like how Adam doesn't only focus on the negatives, that he mentions the positives as it's encouraging and my previous 2 teachers didn't do that. I also like that Adam gives me specific things to work on and specific scales as it helps me focus my practice. Best clarinet teacher I've ever had and the only one who inspired me to work really hard!
Olivia likes the use of the piano in the lesson. She enjoys the variation which includes theory and sight reading. Olivia really enjoys the lesson and Adam seems ro have found the right balance between rapid progress and hard slog.
Maisie commenced lessons on the recorder and found them very enjoyable and fun. She has now started lessons on the clarinet and is progressing well due to Adam's teaching style. His enthusiasm, commitment and passion for music, is second to none. Maisie has found his lessons interesting, imaginative, enthusiastic, varied and fun. She is progressing well and looks forward to her weekly lesson. Adam's style of teaching has given Maisie increased self-confidence and belief.
The Lessons I have undertaken have enhanced my playing more than I expected, presenting me with a greater understanding and appreciation of many musical styles, periods and genres.
