About Samuel
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have 7 years teaching experience of brass instruments, piano and music theory. My performing experience consists of a range of freelance work with major orchestras in the North-West, including the Halle, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Opera North, BBC Philharmonic.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes, I have a valid DBS certificate.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I studied at the Royal Northern College of Music with Julian Plummer (Co-Principal Horn, Halle Orchestra) and Tim Jackson (Principal Horn, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra).

Hi. I am a Horn player and teacher based in Rainhill, Prescot. I teach all brass instruments, piano and music theory. I teach at my home and I travel to most areas within the Liverpool and Greater Manchester areas plus further afield.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach all brass instruments. Also, I teach piano and give preparatory lessons for music theory exams.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I hold a First Class BMus(Hons) degree from the Royal Northern College of Music.
- How much do you charge?
I am happy to give a free consultation lesson with no obligation to continue! After that, I charge £30 per hour, with half hour lessons at £15. If I am travelling to you, I will charge petrol at a reasonable rate per mile.
- Where do you teach?
I teach at my home in Rainhill and I am willing to travel to you. I am available to teach in Manchester, Liverpool and everywhere in between!
- When are you available?
I am very flexible with times. If you are busy in the daytime, evenings and weekends are not a problem.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
All ages, from beginner to advanced.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I prepare students ABRSM or Trinity Guildhall exams, but also teach students who prefer a non-exam based approach.
