Personal Message
I am a passionate and dedicated teacher based in Hampton Court. I teach cello to all ages and levels, and am happy to prepare students for grade exams or just have fun learning pieces!
Which subject(s) do you teach?
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have Grade 8 (distinction) in cello, saxophone and voice. I also have Grade 8 theory and Grade 7 piano.
I graduated from the University of Manchester in 2013 with a First Class degree in Music, and from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2014 with distinction.
What kind of experience do you have?
Most recently I have been teaching undergrad and postgrad students at the Royal Northern College of Music as a Junior Fellow. I've also taught at Yorkshire Young Musicians, Aldeburgh Young Musicians and The Music Place in Altrincham. I've been teaching privately for about seven years now.
How much do you charge?
£20 - 30 minutes
£28 - 45 minutes
£35 - 1 hour
Where do you teach?
I mainly teach at home in Hampton Court, but can travel to other parts of Surrey and South West London depending on the location.
When are you available?
I am flexible - my schedule varies so I generally arrange each lesson as it comes.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages and levels. I have experience of teaching total beginners (adults and children) and post-Grade 8 students.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I am happy to prepare students for ABRSM or other exams. I'm also happy to help with preparation for theory exams.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
Associate of the Royal Northern College of Music (Junior Fellow) 2015-17
Where and with whom did you train?
While at school, I trained at the Royal College of Music Junior Department in London on Saturdays. On leaving school I went and studied in Germany for a year at Bremen Hochschule fur Kunste, before going to do the Joint Course at the University of Manchester and the Royal Northern College of Music. I've also been on lots of courses abroad with internationally renowned teachers, such as Natalia Gutman, Natalie Clein, Miklos Perenyi, Ralph Kirshbaum and more.
Do you have a personal message for students?
A bit about me:
As well as teaching, I enjoy performing. I freelance with orchestras such as the BBC Philharmonic, Manchester Camerata, the Halle, Opera North and others. With my string quartet, the Solem Quartet, I perform regularly around the UK and sometimes abroad, giving recitals at prestigious venues and international festivals. In my last year as an undergrad at the RNCM I won the main cello competition (Sir John Barbirolli Cello Prize, 2013).
I've also played on BBC One Children In Need, on tour with Michael Buble, and with the heavy metal band Disturbed, and I play in a contemporary music group called House of Bedlam.

If you have any questions, please just ask! :-)
