Personal Message
I am Professional cellist looking for the chance to share my love of cello and music whether you're looking to do exams or just play for pleasure. I regularly perform classical repertoire but also enjoy exploring pop and jazz on the cello too.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
Music theory
Tell me about your qualifications.
I studied for 4 years at the Royal Northern College of Music with Eduardo Vassallo.
I achieved a BMus (hons) with First Class.
DipABRSM Diploma in Cello.
ABRSM Grade 8 with Distinction
What kind of experience do you have?
I am cello teacher at Mellor Primary School in Stockport and have also taught on several music courses, coaching individual cellists and orchestra cello sections.
I have been in to primary schools to perform to classes and in assembly and also worked with a GCSE music class with their string compositions.
I have adult pupils, ranging from complete beginners to advanced.
I organise concerts for all of my students to give them the opportunity to perform together (cello ensemble) and to show their friends and family what they have been working on.
How much do you charge?
Individual lessons:
60 minutes £35
45 minutes £30
30 minutes £25
Where do you teach?
Currently I am only able to take on students who are able to come to my house in Northend, Warwickshire. Car parking is available here (& unlimited cups of tea or coffee!).
When are you available?
Weekdays (daytime and evenings), weekends and also during school holidays.

Due to my freelance lifestyle, we may not be able to have lessons on the same day each week but I will always try to be as accommodating as possible.
Which ages and levels do you teach?

I will happily teach any standard and any age above 6 years old.

No-one is ever too old to start!
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
These are not a necessity in my teaching and I will work alongside each pupil to find out which musical route suits them best. Although exams can be brilliant motivators, they aren't for everyone - and my main aim is to make sure all my pupils have fun.

I think concerts are fantastic and encourage my students to do as much performing as possible (even if just in their living room to their family!). I try and organise a few informal concerts a year to give my students chamber music skills (when we perform together) and to give them something to work towards and look forward to.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I play in and run Leos Strings, a group of professional sting ensembles. We play for corporate and private events across the UK. We also regularly perform in shopping centres and on High Streets, bringing live string music to new audiences.

I am also a member of the Musicians Union.
Do you have a personal message for students?
It is never too late to start! I have lots of experiencing teaching complete beginners who are both adults and children.

I will also incorporate general Music Theory into our lessons alongside aural and ear training.
