I have over 20 years of experience teaching children in a range of schools, specialising in English, VR and exam preparation, reaching Head of Department level and Deputy Headship. I have worked in both state and independent schools specialising in English and Drama. I have been a private tutor for 10 of those years focusing on exam preparation for the 11+ and GCSE. In each experience, I have developed the skills and techniques required to address the needs of each and every child I teach, to ensure they fulfil their potential. I have also worked with students from mainland China and Hong Kong to develop and improve all aspects of their English. I understand the need to manage the pressures that students face and can provide help with stress reduction.

Perfect! Charlotte has been fantastic with my son.The best thing about her teaching style is that she motivates the children and she gets them to enjoy their writing. She plans the sessions meticulously and is very focused on how she wants to approach each lesson. My son genuinely enjoy her lessons and looking forward to it.We find that this makes a huge difference. I would recommend Charlotte to any parents looking for an excellent English tutor.

I would like to thank you so much for all the effort & private tutoring you did for our son. His top grade in his final English exam is no small thanks to your wonderful coaching & direction.
He is now in the top English stream at his new senior school.Charlotte helped both of my sons achieve their first choice school with her support of 11+ English. She made the lessons fun, varied and targeted to each of their specific needs. The exam tips and positivity proved invaluable in what seemed like an unachievable goal at certain times!
We had two 2-hr sessions with Charlotte during half term break, and our son found them to be very useful and boosted his confidence in preparation to his GCSE mock tests this week. Not only was she able to quickly identify the gaps but she also knew how best to fill them effectively. She is experienced in tutoring and very responsive to communicate to. We have been very pleased so far and look forward to have more sessions when she's available in the coming months.
Thank you so much for all the encouragement and confidence you have given my daughter over the last few months, in preparation for her 11+ examinations.
She has learnt to be passionate about English and has eagerly looked forward to all her sessions with you...you are her favourite teacher!Charlotte is a very pleasant and knowledgeable tutor who has accurately assessed my daughter's specific needs. Her tutoring has increased my daughter's depth of understanding and skill level in preparation for her English GCSE exams. My daughter's confidence and knowledge has improved and she enjoys the hourly sessions; we would both highly recommend.
Dear Mrs Watson
I just wanted to let you know our great news - my son has been offered places at both schools he sat for. We are all thrilled that the hard work has paid off for him.
He always enjoyed his lessons with you. You made the sessions fun, interesting and interactive.
Thank you so much for the support and guidance you provided him with in the months leading up to his exams. We cannot thank you enough for the knowledge you shared with him.
Best wishesCharlotte is a fantastic tutor who created a strong rapport with my son from day one. She is brilliant at praising what is done well and positively encouraging improvement. She really helped my son improve his creative writing which he was struggling with. He is a typical 9 year old boy who would rather play on the Xbox than think about story mountains but after a few months of tutoring he was regularly writing stories marked A1 at school and went on to secure an academic scholarship at Whitgift.
Charlotte makes learning meaningful and relevant. My son is motivated to do his work for her without any prompting because she has shown him why it's important and how it will benefit him.
Charlotte is reliable, highly competent and willing to go the extra mile. She prepared my daughter to a highly reputed academic school's 13+ entrance and in a short span of time did a fantastic job. She is extremely hardworking and focussed. She is also very knowledgeable about examination requirements and preparation. My daughter found her lessons very interesting.
