Personal Message
Hi, my name is Andrew, I am a graduate of both Oxford and Cambridge universities and an experienced tutor. I focus on explaining Chemistry in a structured way that helps students build confidence and improve their understanding of the subject.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I tutor:
Chemistry and Physics at GCSE
Chemistry A-level
Pre-university Chemistry
Preparation for the BMAT exam
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a PhD in Biophysical Chemistry from the University of Cambridge and a Master's degree from Oxford University in Chemistry (2:1).
What kind of experience do you have?
I started tutoring at GCSE and A-level in 2017. I have successfully tutored Physics and Chemistry to students taking their examinations in 2017 and 2018. Prior to tutoring at GCSE and A-level, I taught undergraduates at Cambridge University (2nd, 3rd and 4th year students) and have trained others in a one-to-one capacity in industry as a senior scientist and post-doctoral researcher.

In addition to tutoring, I also worked for Cambridge Assessments as an examiner for the BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT) for two seasons.
How much do you charge?
I meet all my students for a free twenty minute chat to ensure that we are both happy to proceed and to see where the student needs help.

My charges for tutorials are stated in my profile above.
I offer a discount for additional students in a group tutorial with the charge reducing to £20 per student per hour for a maximum of three students and I may also waive any additional travel charge for group sessions.
Where do you teach?
At my house in central Banbury or at your house within approximately 15 miles from Banbury.

I am happy to travel to you if you are within approximately 15 miles or 20 minutes drive, I charge a small additional fee if the distance is over ~3 miles from the centre of Banbury.

I can tutor in Adderbury, Ardley, Aston le Walls, Aynho, Bodicote, Brackley, Brailles, Chacombe, Chipping Norton, Chipping Warden, Croughton, Cropredy, Farthinghoe, Fenny Compton, Gaydon, Hook Norton, Kineton, Kings Sutton, Middleton Cheney, Tysoe, and other locations in between.

Distances a little beyond 15 miles may be possible if I have another tutoring job nearby, please just ask.
When are you available?
I am available Monday-Thursday 12:00-17:00, Tuesday and Thursday evenings after 7pm and on weekends (morning/afternoon/evening).
Which ages and levels do you teach?
Higher- tier GCSE separate or combined sciences and A-level students of all abilities.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I don't have a DRB certificate (yet!)
Tell me about some of your current students.
I have GCSE and A-level students, most have either underperformed in recent examinations or are lacking confidence. They are on the Edexcel OCR and AQA test specifications. They have all jumped one or two grades higher in their final or end of year examinations, with several achieving the highest grade possible.
Do you have a personal message for students?
Take the opportunity to meet a tutor in person through this website - there are other websites that will charge you before you can meet in person and decide if this is the tutor for you. I will meet you for free to discuss where I can help you and to answer any questions you or your parents might have.

Don't struggle on your own when there is help available!
