Personal Message
Hi, I'm Chloe! I enjoy teaching pupils of all ages and abilities, and encouraging them to reach their potential. I'm friendly and approachable, so please don't hesitate to get in touch!
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach flute to pupils of all ages and abilities, ranging from absolute beginners to post-grade 8 and diploma students.
I am also happy to provide tuition in academic music at GCSE/A-level/Oxbridge preparation standard.
Tell me about your qualifications.
MA Flute, Royal Academy of Music, Distinction
BA Hons (Oxon) Music, First Class
dipABRSM Flute, Distinction
ABRSM Grade 8: Flute, Violin, Piano, Music Theory
What kind of experience do you have?
I have taught students of all ages and standards, including complete beginners, and have experience of working successfully towards ABRSM grade exams with students, the vast majority of whom achieve distinction in their exams.

I have also enjoyed teaching adult amateur students and more advanced players either for enjoyment or towards exams including ABRSM and Trinity boards.

I have been employed as Teacher of Music at Queen's College London, an independent girls school in the capital, and have also worked as a tutor of small group and whole class instrumental lessons in Newham Coucil's award-winning Every Child a Musician programme.

I graduated from the University of Oxford with a First-class degree in Music, where I was also President of the Oxford University Music Society. I went on to obtain my Masters degree in flute performance at the Royal Academy of Music, passed with Distinction in 2016.

Additionally, I have worked with three London-based tutoring agencies as an academic music tutor, as well as conducting mock Oxbridge interviews on their behalf.
How much do you charge?
My rate for flute lessons is £40 per hour, and £25 for a half-hour lesson. Your first lesson ('consultation lesson') is discounted at £25 per hour, £20 for a half hour lesson. This is to see if I'm the right teacher for you.

My rate for all other music tuition (listed above) is £45 per hour, £30 per half-hour.
Where do you teach?
I teach my students from my home in W2 (Paddington)
When are you available?
I teach on weekday evenings from my home in Paddington - please email to discuss a time that would suit you.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I enjoy teaching flute to all ages and all levels! I can also teach academic music through to Oxbridge/University entrance standard.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I am happy to prepare my students for ABRSM grade exams and Trinity College exams, if desired. If my pupils don't wish to do exams I am also pleased to work without a syllabus, and to enjoy making music!
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes (DBS Enhanced Certificate).
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I offer Skype tutoring via Tempus Tutors, in particular for university application preparation. Please get in touch to ask about this.
Where and with whom did you train?
I studied for ten years with the inspirational Wissam Boustany. At the Royal Academy of Music, I studied principally with Clare Southworth, Patricia Morris and Michael Cox. I am a former member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, who also provided tutors of worldwide acclaim.
Tell me about some of your current students.
I currently teach a mixture of primary-aged and secondary-ages students, as well as some lovely adult amateurs. In the next exam season (December 2017) I have one student entering for his Grade 8 ABRSM at age 13 as well as an adult amateur entering for her Grade 6 Trinity exam.

My youngest students are all studying and enjoying lots of different types of music - one is enjoying beatbox flute at the age of 11 and the other turns up each week with a new song from musical theatre to share with me! I encourage all of my students to study the styles of music they most enjoy.
Do you have a personal message for students?
Don't hesitate to get in touch, regardless of your musical background or level of experience. I'm an enthusiastic and friendly teacher, happy to pursue musical goals that suit you. I'm always pleased to meet new students, so do email me - I'd love to hear from you!
