Chris was enormously helpful to my daughter. Firstly, in getting excellent A-level results; secondly, in helping her successfully apply to Cambridge University to study languages; and thirdly, most importantly because she enjoyed and looked forward to her sessions. Thanks, Chris!
Chris is a highly professional tutor. He’s been teaching my child IB German.
Chris teaches in a very clear way and cares a lot about his students and pushes them a lot so they achieve their goals!
I would highly recommend Chris as my daughter has done fantastic in her recent IB exams thanks to having Chris prep her for them. All lessons were well worth the money as Chris taught her fantastically.
He made sure she understood everything plus he sent her lots of exam papers.
Thank you Chris for everything!
Chris is helping my daughter with both her knowledge and confidence. He has great subject knowledge himself and is kind and patient.
Chris taught a group of us German organised through work. Chris is an excellent tutor, working with an adult group with only a little or no previous knowledge of the language. Our lessons were always very enjoyable and Chris is very knowledgeable on the subject. He is incredibly patient and helped me become more confident with a language I hadn’t learnt for 15 years! I would highly recommend Chris to anyone looking for a tutor!
Christopher is an outstanding tutor of French. I came across Chris whilst looking for someone to help me with both A Level preparation as well as preparation for the Oxford admissions examinations. Christopher's lessons are always structured excellently, I continually make progress due to his experience in teaching as well as his passion for French. His immense knowledge in the language (grammatically, colloquially, and linguistically) stretches me academically, as well as helps me to consistently adapt and become more confident. Whilst giving feedback, his criticism is always constructive, and motivates me to improve. He is really attentive, and always answers any questions I may have very quickly on email. Most importantly, he truly cares about my progress in French, my academic future and my happiness. He is excellent at helping those with a lot of academic pressure to manage their work/life balance whilst still achieving outstanding results. It has been an privilege to have Chris as my tutor, and I am extremely grateful. I truly owe my academic successes in French to Chris.
We are delighted to recommend Chris to any potential students, he is able to engage the youngsters in their interests and develops them with positive encouragement to their full potential. In German our own son lacked areas of confidence in the subject, but his amazing results of A grade at GCSE this summer speak for themselves.
We have been deeply impressed with Chris as a tutor of French and English Lit for our son. We hired Chris for weekly sessions just a few months before our son’s GCSEs because he was failing in French and not doing as well in English as his school said he could do. Our son really took to Chris who was a very kindly, informative and confidence-building presence. The results which we have just had speak for themselves - an 8 in English Lit and a 7 in French. Amazing results. Thanks so much Chris! We know you made a huge difference! Our son couldn’t have done it without you!
Chris has tutored me for a few years during which time he has patiently and thoroughly taught me French from a basic level up to college standard. He is keen to provide an analysis of French grammar, and teach rules and threads such that they can be applied and re-applied in spoken and written work.
He is always happy to return to work already covered so that I get a good grounding and can remember previous topics.Chris has been teaching me German since the beginning of 2018. The lessons are very enjoyable and Chris has profound knowledge of this subject. Chris has a relaxed but structured style of teaching and encourages questions and discussion around the subject. Chris does not teach by rote as in school, but teaches you how to work with the language and think in German. I would recommend Chris as he is a very experienced tutor and a thoroughly nice man.
Chris is an excellent tutor. He is patient and kind an extremely knowledgeable. He helped me progress quickly and helped me get a great grade at University - one I certainly would not have achieved without him. I can’t recommend him enough - he gave me my confidence back and helped me enjoy French again, which wasn’t an easy task in itself! I am so grateful to Chris for all of his help.
I know Chris through recent shared involvement in church music of the highest standard. His French tutoring will be thus given at the same high standard, as is all his work. He is a kind and gentle person, who will relate well with his students, whilst giving them the best tuition in this subject.
I have only known Chris for a year or 2. I can imagine he is brilliant as a Tutor as he is a patient amusing mild-mannered man I have ever met. I also know him as a friend and to have a friend of his caliber is indeed a privilege. So yes I do highly recommend him to be your Tutor. You won't be disappointed.
A well qualified and successful tutor and a good chap all round.
I can thoroughly recommend Chris as a trustworthy gentleman.

.My son has been tutored by Mr Heaven for the past year, in German and French. He has helped my son immensely. Mr Heaven has always been professional and flexible, especially with changing an arranged lesson at short notice. I would have no hesitation in recommending him.
Chris has proved to be a fantastic teacher, patient and considerate, and most important adaptable to individual needs. Also a great knowledge of French and how it should be taught. Thanks Chris!
What I found most impressive was Chris´ ability to tailor a class to the (often very specific and obscure!) needs of his students. All of the classes were fun, energetic and conducted with the lightness of touch that is often required to make German grammar interesting. The biggest compliment I can pay is that my ability to read German improved rapidly. Thouroughly recommended.
Chris Heaven is an inspirational French teacher. In the seven months that Spike (aged 12) has been having French lessons with Chris, Spike has gone from having almost no French knowledge to enjoying the subject and making excellent progress.
Wendy Jacobs, retired Executive Headteacher, Lambeth.Chris is an excellent teacher who is enthusiastic, encouraging and has tailored my lessons to my personal requirements. He has also been flexible which I have really appreciated, as I have been able to fit the lessons around my full-time job.
The help I recieved was outstanding. A structured list of what we needed to achieve was made, something which really helped me to see my own personal progression. All of the grammar I had to learn had previously confused me, but Chris explained everything so brilliantly that I wondered how I hadn't understood it in the first place. I thoroughly enjoyed learning French again and my confidence with the language has soared.
A very good teacher. My son felt confident about French for the first time, and looked forward to lessons.
Before Harriet came to you, we were both very worried about how she would manage to cope with the amount and complexity of AS study on her own. You have given Harriet her confidence back and she is now looking forward to taking her exams so that she can demonstrate her knowledge and skills and gain official recognition for them.
(continued- from Mrs N Bray)
Since you have been working with Harriet, I have seen her passion for study return and she is now considering a future which involves university study at the highest level. This is something I have always known she is capable of and would love, but your faith and encouragement has inspired her to believe in herself again.
I honestly cannot thank you both enough for everything – your impact has been above and beyondView more recommendations
