About Sophia
- What kind of experience do you have?
As an orchestral musician I have performed with the Guildhall Chamber Orchestra, Brighton Symphony Orchestra, National Childrens Orchestra and the Junior Guildhall Symphony Orchestra. I also have extensive experience as a soloist and chamber musician having played at many private parties and functions.
I have many years experience in teaching all ages and abilities. I have worked at Junior Guildhall for the past four years, I am regularly involved in workshops and masterclasses as well as being involved in the Big Double Reed Day organised by Bob Porter.

Yes, a full CRB is held.
- Where and with whom did you train?
Whilst at Junior Guildhall I studied under Derek Hannigan (clarinet) , Paul Stevens (saxophone) and Kate Bray (piano). At Guildhall School of Music and Drama I trained under Joy Farrell & Andrew Webster (clarinet), Christian Forshaw (saxophone)

Guildhall School of Music and Drama (Bmus)
ABRSM Diploma in Clarinet Performance
Grade 8 Clarinet distinction
Grade 8 Saxophone distinction
- How much do you charge?
I charge £35 an hour for clarinet, saxophone or piano tuition and £18 for half an hour.
I charge £18 music theory and chamber coaching for a half hour session.
- Where do you teach?
I teach at home but am happy to travel to pupils' houses if necessary.
- When are you available?
I am available to teach both on weekdays and weekends, my schedule is very flexible so I am easily able to fit to your availability.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I am happy to teach both clarinet and saxophone to all ages and abilities from beginners to post grade 8 standard.
Piano, music theory and recorder up to Grade 5/6.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
Both ABRSM and trinity exams
Grade 5 theory exams
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I am a bubbly and enthusiastic teacher and will tailor all my lessons to the individual needs of my pupils. If you just want to learn a new hobby and have fun thats great or take music more seriously as a potential career I am here to help with all aspects and offer as much guidance as needed.
