Whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced student looking for that push to the next level, it would be my pleasure to share my musical knowledge and experience with you.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach saxophone, clarinet and theory...classical and jazz.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a BA in music from Yale University, where I studied performance with Gerald Baum and theory with Allen Forte and Jonathan Kramer. I also studied briefly with Fred Lipsius (founding member and saxophonist in Blood Sweat and Tears) while living in New York City.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have played both clarinet and saxophone since the age of 10, and played first chair alto sax for three years in the Yale University Concert Band. I was also a founding member of the Yale University Sax Quartet, playing soprano sax.
Since university I have played in numerous small combos and currently play lead alto in a local big band, first chair in a local concert band and with several small jazz and blues combos.
I am currently resident saxophone and clarinet teacher at one of the area's prominent music shops, and have been since the beginning of 2012.
How much do you charge?
My fees are £30 per hour lesson and £15 per half-hour lesson.
Where do you teach?
I will teach at your home and am happy to travel within a reasonable distance of Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
When are you available?
I am generally available most days of the week, day or night (within reason) exceptions being Monday evening and Saturday morning.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I am happy to teach any ages from 10 yrs to adult, and from absolute beginners through grade 8.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have an enhanced CRB certificate.
Tell me about some of your current students.
My current students include young students as well as City professionals.
