Personal Message
I am an enthusiastic computing tutor with over 10 years of coding experiences and over 6 years of teaching experience.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Computer Science and Computing at all levels and including languages: Java, Processing, Javascript, Python, C++ in Openframeworks, C#, HTML/CSS, and for younger kids Bitsbox, Scratch and P5.js.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a Ph.D. and MSc in Media and Arts Technology from the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, Queen Mary University of London. My research and artistic work investigated non-verbal interaction and expressions using a mixture of motion capture techniques, electronics, and programming. I also have an MA in Digital Arts in Performance where I made my first interactive installation pieces, again using movement tracking cameras, sensor-based electronics, and coding. Previous to this I have a BSc (Hons) Music Technology.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have over 6 years of experience teaching creative computing and programming. I have taught undergraduate and masters modules as a teaching assistant including subjects: procedural programming, data structures and algorithms, graphical user interfaces and web authoring. I have lead 1 day to 1 week workshops teaching creative coding in processing (Java) for schools, museums, hospitals and clubs. Currently I am a tutor for Blueshift Coding, where I teach after school clubs, holiday camps and in-school teaching in Python, Bitsbox, Scratch and simple robotics. I have also been employed as a research assistant for a project called teaching London computing that taught primary and secondary teachers the new computing curriculum.
How much do you charge?
I charge £30 p/h.
