Personal Message
Friendly, approachable and experienced Oxford educated teacher offering GCSE/A level tuition in science and mathematics. At present I am teaching Chemistry at a top independent North London school.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I offer tuition in Chemistry up to AS/A2 level, Maths and Science up to GCSE. I also provide numeracy and literacy tuition for those sitting Armed Forces' exams, aircraft/helicopter pilot tests and any other professional/higher education exams. Furthermore, tuition is offered to postgraduates and mature learners who will be sitting medical entrance exams e.g. GAMSAT.
Tell me about your qualifications.
Masters in Chemistry (MChem, Hons) from Oxford University (Worcester College 2001 - 2005).
What kind of experience do you have?
I am a friendly, approachable Oxford educated tutor with over 10 years and 5000 hours tutoring experience, comprising a mix of one-to-one tuition, teaching within small groups as well as larger classroom environments. I have extensive knowledge of all the major examination boards with particular expertise in the OCR, Edexcel, WJEC and AQA syllabuses.

I am currently teaching Chemistry at a top independent North London School, having previously taught both Chemistry and Maths at City of London School for Girls. Earlier experience included working as a Mathematics and Science teacher on the government-funded 'Life Long Learning' Scheme, where certain pupils were affected with learning disabilities such as ADHD, dyslexia and dyspraxia.

Additionally, I have passed the GAMSAT medical entrance exam required for certain medical schools within the UK, so can assist with the preparation required for this difficult test. I also provide numeracy and literacy tuition for those sitting professional or higher education exams and Armed Forces tests.

Undergraduate tuition is offered to those students studying for degrees that incorporate Chemistry modules e.g. Business and Chemistry, foundation courses etc.

I cover Central London zones 1 - 2.
How much do you charge?
GCSE and A level: £45 per hour. GAMSAT: £50 per hour.

Under certain circumstances reductions in fees may be available e.g. long-term block bookings or group bookings, 2 hour sessions etc. Please don’t hesitate to discuss this on consultation. Please see my website for full details.
Where do you teach?
I teach primarily within London zones 1 - 2. Locations include Kensington, Chelsea, Camden, Islington, Southwark, Lambeth, Westminster, Mayfair, Paddington, Wimbledon, Finchley etc. This list is by no means exhaustive - please see my website for a full list of locations covered.

Tuition usually takes place at the client's home, although I am flexible in regard to the time and location of the lessons.
When are you available?
Evenings and weekends.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
Usually between 12 - 18 years old, although I do teach a number of mature learners studying part time for engineering and science degrees, or applying to medical school.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
Mainly GCSE and A level.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have a recent enhanced DBS (CRB) check which is available for your perusal. This is a statutory requirement for all teachers working at a school.
Where and with whom did you train?
Worcester College and Christ Church College, Oxford Univeristy.
Tell me about some of your current students.
Current client base is a diverse mix of age and abilities. The majority of my students are studying for their GCSEs and A levels, however a number are younger, Key Stage 3 learners, or mature students studying for professional exams or part time degrees. Certain students are affected with learning difficulties, such as dyslexia and autism.
Do you have a personal message for students?
With over a decade and 5000 hours tutoring experience, and extensive knowledge of all the examination boards, I believe I am well placed to help you with your tuition needs. My aim is to get the very best out of tutees using a variety of teaching methods with a strong emphasis on exam technique. I have helped tutees of all ages and abilities on a one-to-one basis as well as within small groups. I am flexible and adaptable in my approach to teaching, and endeavor to create a learning environment in which the tutee can thrive. Questions from tutees are encouraged as much as possible; I believe this is absolutely essential if a solid understanding of a topic is to be achieved. Subjects are taught according to exact syllabus requirements. Knowledge is tested through the setting of regular homework and past paper questions. Marking and feedback to tutees is prompt.
