Personal Message
I'm an experienced English tutor, with particular experience working with dyslexic students of all ages. My teaching style is academically rigorous but always friendly.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
Literacy & English (11+, GCSE, A Level, undergraduate)
Tell me about your qualifications.
Cambridge University, Emmanuel College: English MA (First Class)

I also trained at the Jacques Lecoq International Theatre School in Paris, from 2009-11 and I regularly work for the National Theatre's Creative Learning department.
What kind of experience do you have?
I've recently moved back to Nottingham, my home town, having worked as a tutor in London for the past five years. I’ve undertaken hundreds of hours of teaching experience, working with over 30 students on a wide range of briefs. I have particular experience working with dyslexic students of all ages. I also assess and interview potential new tutors for a top London tutoring agency.

I have worked a lot with students in Year 5 and 6, on comprehension and story writing, alongside grammar and spelling. This has included preparing students for 11+ and 13+ entrance exams and previous students have been awarded places at prestigious London schools, including Westminster and St. Paul's.

I have lots of experience working with GCSE and A-Level students, to support their preparation for controlled assessments and exams. Last year I had four GCSE students sitting English Language and English Literature. Results were: A* / A*, A* / B, A / A, A / B. Three of these students were dyslexic.

I have worked with undergraduate students, in a Learning Support role, offering structure and support, as well as feedback on written work.

I have also worked with students applying to Oxford University, sitting the ELAT examination. My last student was awarded a place at Magdalen College.
How much do you charge?
£30 per hour
Where do you teach?
I teach at students’ homes or at a mutually convenient location (usually a café). I live in West Bridgford and will travel anywhere easily accessible by bike.

Happy to travel to: West Bridgford, Edwalton, Wilford, Lady Bay, Gamston, The Meadows, Nottingham City Centre.

Currently looking to fill slots on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evenings but I can usually be fairly flexible, on a week by week basis. I am available for the rest of the academic year 2016-17 and beyond.

Do you have a personal message for students?
Read widely, think about what you read in relation to the world and your own experiences.

And don't ever start writing an essay without planning first!!
