I help students navigate the English GCSE with success. Or I can offer your son or daughter the much easier English Language IGCSE, taken by private and international schools as a way of guaranteeing their students good marks. It’s a loophole!
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach English Language and Literature at GCSE and A Level. I specialise in getting students through the English Language IGCSE which is an easier exam that independent schools offer; This exam is, unfairly, not available in state schools so I can offer your child the chance of exam success by taking them through this course. There are two chances to take it a year. My students often get it out of the way in January. It includes coursework which is helpful for students under huge exam pressure in other subjects . And it is accepted by employers and universities. Contact me for testimonials and a chat.

However, most of my students are studying for English Language or Literature AQA or Edexcel (9-1) GCSEs; I use google classrooom which enables my students to gain access to two years worth of lesson plans and resources. My YouTube channel (especially for revision ) is also a valuable resource for my pupils.
Teaching young people with Aspergers is also a speciality of mine. Please get in contact if you would like more details or references. See my profile on LinkedIn.
Tell me about your qualifications.
BA Hons English Literature and Russian. Birmingham University. Pgce Secondary English 1998.

I also examined English for a national exam board at both GCSE and A Level.
I have been in charge of an A level paper and I am currently involved with A Level exam coursework moderation.
I will bring references and certificates to our first set up lesson.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have an English Literature degree from a prestigious British university, a Post graduate Certificate in Secondary Education a well as over 17 years examining experience. I was A level Principal on one paper and Assistant Principal for the EPQ. I have enormous amounts of experience teaching English; I taught at the independent Claires Court Schools for 22 years. In my teaching career, I have increased results at A level from D to A and at GCSE, I have a track record of getting very under-performing students through. Many of my GCSE students go on to achieve A or B from significantly lower predictions. I have solid experience with SEN especially Dyslexia and Aspergers.
I have a YouTube Channel where I upload revision videos for my students
How much do you charge?
£65 per hour GCSE
£75 per hour A level
Scholarship GCSE discount rate from June - September 2018. Email me and quote, ‘ Let’s level the playing field between state and independent school English Language GCSE provision; it’s very unfair at present’ .
And I will give you 20 lessons for lessons for £40 an hour. Limited offer - three available.
Skype - same as above - paid 24 hours in advance.

Home schooling : I am happy to home school if this is required - one to one tuition in this situation reaps enormous benefits. Please contact me for a chat. Please note I am almost fully booked and only really have home schooling places available now. However, you can contact me to be put on the waiting list.
Where do you teach?
I tutor in my own home or more frequently now via Skype.

Do you have a personal message for students?
I love English teaching and young people - I am almost fully booked at present but if you contact me, I may be able to fit you in.

I believe in making tutoring fun and a rewarding experience. We focus on reading and extrapolate the other skills from there.Without a reading habit, it is very difficult to develop the attendant skills of writing/comprehension and speaking articulately.I will , if at all possible, let the pupils guide me in his or her interests and/or we will supplement what they are doing at school.
