I am a qualified Maths teacher with over 30 years experience, teaching across all levels and abilities, for students aged 11 to 18. Passionate about teaching Maths, I value the success that comes from students having confidence in themselves.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I can teach Maths throughout Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I completed my teaching degree in 1981, training at the College of St Mark and St John in Plymouth, with my degree awarded by Exeter University. In 2001 I completed a Dip Ed with Southampton University.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have over 30 years experience of teaching students from age 11 to 18 in secondary schools across West Sussex and Hampshire. Throughout my career I have taught in an assortment of schools including large comprehensives and a small independent. In later years I have been a Head of Department and Deputy Head but have continued teaching Maths for a high proportion of the week. My experience includes teaching pupils with dyslexia and I have enabled many to achieve beyond expectation..
How much do you charge?
I charge £35 per hour. There would be a small fuel fee for for travelling.
Where do you teach?
I am flexible as to where I teach (either in a student's home or my own) and will travel from Portsmouth to Chichester.
When are you available?
I am available at times to suit students from Monday to Friday and also in school holidays.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach students Maths from ages 11 to 18, KS3 to A Level. I have also taught Statistics to GCSE and AS Level.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I can prepare students for most Maths exams up to A Level.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have a transferable DBS issued on December 13th 2016.
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I am a member of the National Education Union.
Do you have a personal message for students?
I believe that success in Maths comes from students having confidence in themselves and pride myself on helping all my students maximise their potential. My lessons are tailored to the individual's learning style.
