Personal Message
I am a friendly and enthusiastic professional session drummer and drum teacher.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach drums!
Tell me about your qualifications.
Although I was tutored and hold grades on another instrument (Piano), I am self taught on drums and have many years practical and professional experience
What kind of experience do you have?
I have been playing drums for 26 years, 10 years professionally and 10 years teaching.
I gig each week with my own bands as well as freelancing for others.
I have played in over 50 bands!
How much do you charge?
£28/hr lesson
Where do you teach?
I teach in a purpose built sound proof studio at The Old Malt House, Little Ann Street, central Bristol.

I teach on proper acoustic drum kits (not electric!) - 2 kits set up side by side, so pupils can easily copy my movements. We are connected by headphones into a mixer so pupils can hear my instruction clearly, play along to music etc.

I can also travel to pupils homes to set up and/or tune their kits (extra travel costs apply)

"Having never hit a drum before in my life, I found Steve's approach to teaching really easy to follow. After only a few lessons he had me reading the music and playing around the whole drum kit. After every lesson you feel like you have achieved something new. He also has the patience of a saint so it doesn't matter how many times you need him to go over something, It's not a problem. I would have no problem recommending him to anyone who wants to learn the drums."

"Steve has always pushed Shaughan to achieve his best. He has been with Steve nearly 3 years now and still thoroughly enjoys it."

''My son began his drum kit coaching with Steve four years ago. He is a enthusiastic coach with fantastic rapport with my son. He has progressively taken him through Rock School Drum kit exams with excellent results, and is this year preparing him for Grade 6 Drum Kit exams. Under Steve's guidance my son won his school's Battle of the Bands Music competition. I have no reservations in recommending his enthusiastic style of teaching. He has been flexible in accommodating us through our varied schedules.''
