Personal Message
I am a freelance drummer, composer and teacher based in East London. I'm friendly, highly experienced and dedicated to producing great drummers.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach the drum kit and rudimental snare drumming. I specialise in jazz and improvised music, Basel snare drumming, and have vast experience teaching everything from rock and pop to hip-hop and drum and bass. Most importantly of all I specialise in teaching the fundamental techniques which make all of these styles possible.
Tell me about your qualifications.
BA (Hons) Jazz - Leeds College of Music
ABRSM Grade 8 Drum Kit
ABRSM Grade 5 Theory
What kind of experience do you have?
As well as having many years experience teaching privately in London, I have taught at degree level, focusing on specific aspects of my own personal approach to the drums. I have also given master classes at Newcastle University. I taught at Drum Stars drum school in the North East of England for two years before going to university. In this time I was also an assistant world percussion tutor running African and Samba percussion ensembles. As for my performance experience - I am an internationally touring jazz musician with 20 years of playing experience. I have also performed solo as the opening act for drum clinics by: Jojo Mayer, Keith Carlock and Thomas Lang.
How much do you charge?
I charge:

£15 per 1/2 hour lesson
£30 per 1 hour lesson
Where do you teach?
I am able teach either in a studio space in The Old Fire Station community centre in Stoke Newington or at students' homes. I am willing to travel to NE and E as well as anywhere in South London.
When are you available?
I am available: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. I am also available during school holidays.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages and abilities.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I currently teach the Trinity Drum Kit syllabus so I'm able to prepare students for Trinity grades 1-8.
