Personal Message
Hello, I'm Corrie! I am a passionate musician and teacher, devoted to nurturing a love of music-making in my pupils. I believe everyone learns in their own unique way, and so I aim to tailor all lessons to suit each individual.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
Drum Kit - A variety of styles including jazz/pop/rock/world etc
Tell me about your qualifications.
I graduated with a BMus(Hons) 2:1 from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. During my time at Trinity I received many awards including the Directors Prize for Jazz as well as the Gladdys Puttick Prize for Improvisation. I was selected to represent the jazz faculty in the Gold Medalist Showcase.
I also won the BBC Young Scottish Jazz Musician of the Year in 2013.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have 7 years teaching experience. As part of Chaos Collective I have lead workshops on improvisation and playing in ensembles. I have studied with some of the UK's most renowned music educators: Simon Purcell and Tommy Smith to name but two.

I have performed across the UK and Europe with legendary jazz musicians the likes of Bobby Wellins, Stan Sulzmann, Jim Mullen as well as with upcoming stars such as Laura Jurd & Jacob Collier ( and my own band 'Blue-Eyed Hawk'.
How much do you charge?
I charge £35 for an hour and £20 for half hour

I am happy to take a consultation lesson for beginners at £15 for an "extended" half hour.
Where do you teach?
I teach from home primarily, I live on Blackheath Hill in Greenwich. Lewisham, New Cross, Deptford are all nearby and I am connected via the DLR to Island Gardens, Mudchute etc.

I have three drum kits appropriate for people of all shapes and sizes.
When are you available?
I have a fairly flexible timetable, including weekdays and weekends - so will always try to accommodate a time that is practical for you. I do ask that if students need to cancel lessons I am given no less than 24 hours notice.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach beginners, up to grade 8 standard +
I have taught students as young as four, but would advise shorter lessons at this age. I am happy teaching both children, and adults.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I believe it is important to have goals for my pupils to work towards, whether this is a graded exam; a concert; or an informal performance for Mum and Dad! Equally, if a student particularly just wants to learn to play for fun with no pressure - I am happy to support them in this capacity also.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Where and with whom did you train?
I have studied across the UK, Europe and Africa with a diversity of incredible musicians including master kpanlogo drummer Saddiq Addy, world-renowned session/jazz drummers such as Ralph Salmins (Elton John, Madonna, James Brown, Tom Jones) & Kendrick Scott (Pat Metheny, Terence Blanchard).
Do you have a personal message for students?
I believe learning any instrument should be a challenging, rewarding and above all - fun experience. I was fortunate to receive some truly inspirational teaching growing up, which has inspired me to pursue music as a career and vocation. I wish to encourage the same interest in music and all of its rewards in my pupils.
