I was the Special Needs Coordinator and specialist literacy and numeracy teacher at a school in Cumbria (ages 4 - 13) for twelve years. I have also taught children who are out of school for various reasons and worked as a teacher and assessor for learners of all ages at a Dyslexia Action Centre. I now work part time as a Dyslexia assessor and support tutor at Dudley College.
I taught my own children at home for a couple of years.

I offer one off consultation sessions for advice and assessment at £45 per hour. Discounts also available for small groups/ siblings.

Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages from age 5 with the emphasis being on overcoming the learning difficulties associated with Dyslexia.
I have a flexible approach to suit the learner's needs.
I always spend time carefully assessing any background information with you and helping to formulate a personal learning plan for you or your child.
My learning sessions are varied and enjoyable. I like to use a wide array of multi-sensory resources and games, particularly for younger children who are struggling with reading, writing or number skills.
The first few sessions would generally include information gathering and some assessment to get a clear starting point from where we can make progress towards your learning goals.
I generally work from home in order to keep the cost of lessons down.
