About Justin

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have been teaching and training since 1977. Following early retirement from the military I grew my own training company delivering National Vocational Qualifications, BTECs and specialising in Security and Management. I then diversified into management consultancy. I also learned how to make and produced a number of training and educational films for distribution on the internet and DVDs. I gained my CELTA qualification in June 2013 and have been teaching children, teenagers and adults from around the world in class, one-to-one and on skype. I have taught KS2 Mathematics, Business Studies and BTECs. I am an experienced assessor/examiner for NVQs and military subjects and I have many years experience of creating, running and delivering training courses on a variety of subjects and organise English courses for groups.

In 2014 I taught in Oman where, over 8 weeks, I delivered a course that I wrote in Maritime and Coast Guard English as well as delivering a bespoke Business English. language and culture course on English to Spanish businessmen. In 2015 I wrote and delivered a number of courses for clients, for example on Security Management and Training Management. age and summer activities camps in Moscow. I taught international students at the Defence Academy, who were about to attend the Royal College of Defence Studies. Each year I run English Language Summer Schools in Moscow. Since September 2015 I have been teaching at Milton Abbey School combining English language with preparation for BTEC Level 3 in Creative Media, Hospitality and Countryside Management. I also taught KSA Military students English for Security Management and English for Training Management, courses that I wrote myself.

In 2016, as well as English language activity camps in Russia, I have delivered 2 x bespoke, 25 hour, teacher training workshops in Tbilisi, Georgia. I continue to teach at Milton Abbey and on skype. I have also attended networking and Business Development conferences in St Petersburg and Seoul for a local language school. Since 2017 I have been working with Chinese partners to develop a programme hosting Chinese students in the UK during the summer and taking teachers to teach in China in the summer.

I have had an Enhanced CRB since May 2013 and it was renewed in June 2015.

- Where and with whom did you train?

I trained at the International Teacher Training College (ITTC) in Bournemouth.

- Tell me about some of your current students.

My students vary in nationality and age and come from around the world. Most are working towards a qualification such as IELTS, FCE, KET and PET.

I qualified as a TEFL teacher in 2013 and in 2015 completed a one year distance learning course in Dyslexia. I teach students of all ages at schools and also on skype. I also prepare students for IELTS.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I teach General English and specialise in English for Special Purposes (ESP), for which I also write and deliver courses. I prepare students for IELTS, FCE, KET and PET examinations. Having completed the first year of a Diploma in Dyselxia I also work with students with learning disabilities. Since 2015, I have been working with private students in an English Public School (Private) providing support to the students undertaking BTEC Level 3s in Media, Hospitality and Countryside Management.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I am a graduate of the British Army Command and Staff Course ( a degree level qualification), an MBA graduate (Open University) with a Distinction in Strategic Management and hold a Cambridge ESOL Level 5 Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA). I have completed a one year Certificate in Dyslexia. I also have an Enhanced CRB (May 2015). I am presently teaching myself French.

- How much do you charge?

I charge £35 per hour for one-to-one and Skype lessons depending on the requirement and preparatory work required for each lesson. If I am teaching groups of students I will agree a daily rate per student.

- Where do you teach?

I teach from home and also have class facilities available if there are three or more students for the same lessons. I also travel to other teaching establishments and private clients.

- When are you available?

I am available Mondays - Fridays, 0800 - 1900 hours.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I teach all types of English, from "Beginners" up to "Proficiency", and for exam preparation for IELTS, FCE and PET for all ages.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

I am presently teaching students for IELTS and BTECs as well as on skype.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

I have been teaching English online using Skype since September 2013 and teach several hours each week. Students range from 15 to 55 years of age.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

Learning has to be relevant and fun. I see my role as helping you succeed by mentoring and guiding you, understanding how you best learn, providing you with learning plans and then motivating you to want to learn on your own and in your own time!
