Personal Message
I am a friendly violin teacher and professional freelance violinist based in Bearwood, Birmingham. I love teaching, seeing the satisfaction of progress made, and helping others to enjoy making music.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
Violin, viola and music theory. I also coach string chamber music.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I studied French and Music at the University of Birmingham.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have helped coach several quartet sessions on the Junior Grittleton Chamber Music Course and assisted at Strings Days organised by Bedfordshire Music. I have also done cover teaching at several music shops in Birmingham and Wolverhampton. I have run sectionals for the first violin section of Bedfordshire County Youth Orchestra and have experience of chamber music coaching on both the violin and the viola. In addition to this I have taught on the Strings Club summer and Easter camps in Harborne, Birmingham.

Given my background in the academic side of music as well as performance side, I can offer a comprehensive approach to instrumental lessons, incorporating technique, music theory and aural training.
How much do you charge?
£28/hour or £14/half-hour, with a free trial lesson.
Where do you teach?
At my home in Bearwood, Birmingham.
When are you available?
I can be fairly flexible, depending on other professional commitments - daytimes and weekday evenings are best.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
All ages and abilities are welcome.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes, I do.
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
Yes, the Incorporated Society of Musicians, and the European String Teachers Association.
Where and with whom did you train?
I have studied the violin privately with David Le Page in the UK, and with Jerome Simon in Paris.
